Day 1743 - The best product in the world

Greetings, Bloggy Twofer Tuesdayers!

No, this is not a photo of the best product in the world, but is a good lead in...

I have had a stuffy head since last Friday, and my nose is NOT red and NOT sore. That is a miracle if you ask me.

What has saved me and my delicate schnozzola?

Puffs Plus Lotion Tissues are, bar none, the absolute best tissues when you have a cold.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Not a commercial, just a testimonial.

TTFN, and by the way - so long November, Hello, December!

Day 1742 - Cyber Monday is TODAY

Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!

Here is the uber-adorable Savi in her Thanksgiving outfit. Too cute!

I am going to work from home today as I continue to recover from my cold. I do think my fever has gone, which is a good thing.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I did, cold or not.

NOW IT'S ALL ABOUT THE COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS...

Today is Cyber Monday, but I don't know if I've ever intentionally bought things online on that day. If you need some online stuff, it might be a good time to get it if they offer free shipping.

TTFN and have a great Monday - there are twenty-six shopping days left till Christmas!

Sunday, November 28, 2010

Day 1741 - Guess what I brought home from vacation?

Greetings, Blogregation -

Guess what I brought home from vacation? GERMS!

Yep, I'm sick for the first time in probably a year. Cough, stuffy nose, low grade fever of 100. Blech.

Talk among yourselves, and tiptoe around so you don't disturb the patient... That would be me.

TTFN and have a nice Sunday.

Wish me luck - I need to get well FAST - I have to go to work tomorrow!

Saturday, November 27, 2010

Day 1740 - Thanksgiving is over - put the wreath on the door!

Greetings, Bloggy Christmas Decorators!

Okay - we've given thanks, let's get ready for Christmas.

I haven't even washed and re-hung the curtains yet, but I might get our artificial tree up and decorated first.

Who cares about stupid old curtains anyway?

Changing subjects - it's almost time for my vacation to be over. Boo Hoo!

I'll make this short so I can go enjoy it. TTFN and have a nice Saturday!

Friday, November 26, 2010

Day 1739 - READY....SET... Shop till you drop - it's Black Friday!

Greetings, Bloggy Day Afters!

Did you have a nice Turkey day? And are you still full?

Can you believe it is Friday, already? Another weekend is HERE!

I know, I know, some people are WORKING today...but lots of others are SHOPPING today.

I've been doing semi-continuous shopping already. For some reason my frugal meter gets suppressed when the holidays arrive.

I feel GUILTY if I go to the dollar store and spend over $20. Now that is stupid, considering I don't think anything of it if Charlie and I go out for dinner and spend $40 or $50. Why is that?

Dunno...

Have fun working or shopping today! TTFN!

Day 1738 - Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Greetings, Bloggy ThanksGivers-

Yes, it's Turkey Day, Hooray!

You know what to do - eat from your plate in a circle chanting:

'Tur-key! Gra-vy! Stuf-fing! Tur-key! Gra-vy! Stuf-fing!'

This turkey looks like it has bacon strips all over it - have you ever made one that way? I haven't. I spray mine with butter Pam to hold in the juices.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving - we all have so much to be thankful for!

Day 1737 - Twas Thanksgiving Eve, and all through the house...

Greetings, Bloggy Gobblers, Hens and Poults-

It's almost here - let there be Turkey for everyone!

The Great Turk-age will fly out of the pumpkin patch, and deliver stuffing and gravy to all the good little children.

Think of how difficult THAT would be to put in the stockings above the fireplace...

Are you ready for the 'Yay - Day'? We are!

My favorite two items are, of course, stuffing and gravy.

After that, turkey (dark meat) and cranberry sauce and gravy.
After that, mashed potatoes and gravy.
After that, rolls and butter dunked in the gravy.
After that, EVERYTHING ELSE with gravy.

And after that.... DESSERT.

TTFN and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration tomorrow! Don't forget the Pepcid AC, you just might need it.

Day 1736 - Yay! I mean... Thank you!

Greetings, Bloggy Twofers Tuesdayers!

Here's a cute and true story -

Charlie and I ate lunch at the health club the other day.

A family of 4 - Mom, Dad, and two small children sat down at the table next to ours.

The kids were clamoring for their favorite items, and Mom ordered something for the little boy.

When he received his food (neither Charlie nor I know exactly what it was), Mom coached the little boy with 'What do you say?'

The little boy responded with 'Yay!'

Mom said 'or Thank You', and the boy dutifully repeated 'Thank you'.

We thought 'Yay' was a funnier answer!

Day 1735 - Killing me softly with POPCORN, killing me softly...

Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!

Usually I would be lamenting the fact that it is Monday, but NOOOO!

I am on VACATION, and Monday is just fine with me, all of a sudden.

Charlie, Buddy Joe and I had a great time seeing Harry Potter in the BIG D theatre, and WE ATE TWO BUCKETS OF POPCORN BETWEEN THE THREE OF US. (ow!)

After that, we were so full of popcorn that we had to injure ourselves further with pizza and beer. (double ow!)

So, all in all, a perfect day yesterday. I didn't need that stomach anyway...

TTFN and have a nice Monday!

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Day 1734 - It's HARRY Day!

Greetings, Muggles and Magical Folk Alike!

We are going to have breakfast this morning, then go work out.

You knowwhat's happening after that, today is HARRY DAY!

Charlie, Buddy Joe and I have tickets for the 12:15 BIG D show.

I'm getting kind of excited about it - and we've already put the popcorn bucket in the car.

I need to remember to put some bottled water in my purse. I always s-muggle (tee hee) drinks into the movies, they are just ridiculously overpriced.

I went to the Centennial High craft fair yesterday, and left when I was down to $1. No, I didn't write a single check or use a credit card. I bought a peach pie and a chess pie, no pinto bean pie this time.

TTFN and have a nice Sunday! Here I come, Harry Potter!

Saturday, November 20, 2010

Day 1733 - I am the vindow viper, I have come to vipe your vindows!

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders -

Here's a belated photo of the Vindow Vorkers (the Window Workers), putting in the new windows.

Thanks to roving reporter, Charlie, for his photo documentary.

The 'Vindow Viper' reference in the title of todays blog was a ghost story (spooky but funny) we used to tell when we were kids. Do you remember it?

I have a busy day today - errands, water aerobics, and a craft fair to go to. Coming up on Sunday - we're off to see HARRY POTTER with Charlie and Buddy Joe.

A perfect weekend, if you ask me! TTFN and have a nice Saturday!

Friday, November 19, 2010

Day 1732 - Vacation is HERE!!!

Greetings, Bloggy Vacationers (and wanna be's!) -

Here's a cute photo of Thanksgiving Turkey cupcakes that I appropriated from Facebook. Hope that's OK...

It's Friday, Hooray!

You know what to do, march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Vaca-tion! Fri-day! Vaca-tion!'

Yes, it's true... Today is my last day of work until the end of November. I hope to do some Christmas shopping, get together with some friends, get some house stuff done, AND do some travelling.

Sounds busy, doesn't it?

TTFN - have a great Friday and a great weekend!

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Day 1731 - Two workdays before VACATION!

Greetings, Bloggy Waitin' for the Weekenders-

I apologize for two puny blog entries in a row - but I know you'll understand!

My day yesterday started at 5am and ended after 8pm. I came home, dozed through a re-play of Survivor, and went to bed.

NEWSFLASH - WE HAVE OUR NEW WINDOWS!

Of course, I haven't actually seen through them in DAYLIGHT yet. It was dark when I got home and it's dark now before I head out to work. Come to think of it, it will be dark when I return home this evening too. Well, I'll see through our new windows on the weekend, I guess! What I can see of them looks great. ;-)

It was worth getting new windows, just so I don't have to look at the spiders living in the old ones, or worry about washing them.

Update on Facebook: My facebook account (after everyone wrote me they couldn't see me anymore) was accidently deactivated by the Facebook team. Thanks a lot for that, Facebook!

Have a nice Thursday, everyone! TTFN!

Day 1730 - Midweek, Midlife, MidMonth!

Greetings, Bloggy Middlers!

No time for bloggage today -

Last night we went out for dinner, then to the 9th annual 'Music City Revue' - a music fest that is a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club. Wonderful food and wonderful music!

This morning I got up at 5am and made stuffing for the Thanksgiving Potluck at work, so I am OUT of time and OUT of here...

TTFN and have a nice Wednesday!

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Day 1729 - It's Window Eve!

Greetings, Bloggy Twofer Tuesdayers -

Here's another goose feeding photo, Savannah is the one in pink (in case you can't pick her out)!

We watched history being made yesterday - the halftime score of the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins broke a record, and it was also the most points the Eagles had ever scored in a game! Final score was 59 to 28.

I'm going to make the blog short and sweet today, maybe more short than sweet.

We are supposed to get new windows installed tomorrow, hopefully everything will go smoothly.

TTFN and have a nice Tuesday!

Monday, November 15, 2010

Day 1728 - Railroad Ramblings...

Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!

Charlie and I went to see 'Unstoppable' yesterday, and we also tried out Carmike Cinemas 'BIGD' new digital sound system. (with new chairs to boot)

We didn't know what 'BIGD' was, and didn't know if it would cost more, which it didn't.

Both were EXCELLENT.

The movie was suspenseful, and there seems to be some connection between the sound and the seats, because you could FEEL the vibrations of the train, adding to the suspense of this thriller.

Anyway - we had a really good time at the movies yesterday. Even the POPCORN was good yesterday, we have learned to ASK that we get the hot popcorn, not the popcorn in the bins that has been sitting. We tried to tip the guy at the refreshment desk 50 cents, but he wouldn't take it.

Have a nice Monday, and TTFN!

Sunday, November 14, 2010

Day 1727 - Vacation Countdown is ON!

Greetings, Sunday Blogregation-

ONE more work week coming up, then I am on vacation for all of Thanksgiving week. Ahhhhhhhhhhh....

Today is my niece Roxy's birthday. Happy Birthday, Roxy!

Look at this bad ol' goose, biting Savannah on the finger!

BAD GOOSE. BAD. BAD.

That one's going in the stew pot for sure.

I know, the goose was just trying to get the bread. Yeah, yeah.

BAD GOOSE. BAD. BAD.

I put over 100 miles on my car yesterday, just running errands.

That's what happens when you live 20 miles from ANYWHERE. (We're ok with that though.)

TTFN and have a nice Sunday! I recommend GOOSE instead of TURKEY for Thanksgiving... (tee hee)

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Day 1726 - The last warm day for awhile!

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!

Here is yet another FAB Savi photo, stolen from Facebook. TOO MUCH CUTENESS to believe!!

Speaking of Facebook - have you noticed friends or friends of friends on Facebook who never post anything POSITIVE at all, only negative thoughts and feelings?

I feel sorry for them, maybe anti-depressants would help...

My mother would say 'If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything', but that would totally defeat what Facebook is all about, wouldn't it?

I am eating breakfast - Fiber One cereal with nonfat milk and cranberries in it, followed by some hard boiled egg whites. Sounds disgustingly healthy, doesn't it? Yes, I waste food often by throwing away the yolks - much cheaper than buying Egg Beaters.

Food recommendation - have you ever tried seedless BLACK grapes? They are my favorite.

Today will be our last 70's day for the near term. I am off soon to water aerobics, followed by errands and shopping. I'd better remember to put blue ice in the cooler in my car - it is still too warm to expect the groceries NOT to melt before I get home.

Have a great Saturday!

Friday, November 12, 2010

Day 1725 - Friday, Hooray!

Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers -

Aunt Nancy posted on Facebook that I should put this photo on the blog, and I am happy to do so.

MAJOR ADORABLENESS (says Grandma)...

Meanwhile - it's Friday, Hooray!

You know what to do, march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

I went to work out yesterday at the crack of dawn. I was in the shower amid the chattering of several teenage girls.

I really do think they were teenagers, though why they were there so early in the morning is unclear.

They were IN their respective showers when I went in there - streams of hot water making a tidal rush to the floor drains. I took my shower, toweled dry, put on some foundation garments, and rinsed and spun dry my swimsuit.

As I left the shower area for the locker room, they were STILL showering.

They kept up a constant chatter, and also swapped each others soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc - as though someone else's would be better than their own, by sliding them hockey-puck style across the tile floors.

OMG! I get it! I'll bet one of the moms figured out that she can do all the exercise she wants to in the time it takes three girls to get CLEAN, and she doesn't have to pay for all the hot water! DUH!

TTFN, have a great Friday, and a great weekend!

Day 1724 - More Peels in the News

Greetings, Wish it were FRY-dayers! (ouch!)

Right after I did that blog about how great PEELS are nutritionally, Wendys announced that they are going to change their french fry recipe to leave the peels on...

Looking for a picture, I found these Carls Jr. Natural Cut fries - I imagine they will be similar.

The only downside I saw to the new Wendy's recipe was this...

For some reason the sodium content for their natural, sea salt fries was HIGHER than the original recipe. What??

To read more about it - check out this article. The article has a great photo on it too but I didn't want to start the blog over again with a different photo.

Day 1723 - Midweek and Midlife

Greetings, Bloggy Middlers -

Yes, it's Midweek already. Woo hoo! November is really going by fast.

The holidays will be here before you know it, and the stores are already going crazy trying to get shoppers in the door.

I'm not ready for the holidays, it is still SUMMER here, for goodness sake! The next few afternoons will be around 75 degrees.

Kroger already has Thanksgiving turkeys on sale. My turkey would be defrosted before I could get it home.

I had C# class yesterday, and I did do SOME of my homework - enough to get by. NO HOMEWORK THIS WEEK.

Woo Hoo times 2!

Have a nice Wednesday, no matter what the temperature is where you are...

Tuesday, November 09, 2010

Day 1722 - The Appeals Process

Greetings, Bloggy Appealants -

Actually, what I want to talk about are PEELs, not appeals.

Just taking a little liberty with the spelling to catch your eye.

I invented a new, health food product yesterday - brand name 'Food-A-Peel'.

Yes, I realize that someone could read this blog and make a million dollars from my idea. If you do, I hope you'll remember me and send me a check.

Food-A-Peel would be a line of healthier option foods that have the peels ON or the peels pureed into the product such as applesauce, soup or other fruit sauces. Maybe even baby and toddler food.

I'll bet you could really boost the nutritional value and fiber content of lots of common foods without sacrificing any flavor or taste simply by adding the peels instead of discarding them.

I already prefer mashed potatoes with the peel still on - don't you?

That's one of the reasons juicing and whole-fruit smoothies are so nutritional - the peels are still on.

Well, that's my idea and I'm sticking to it. That's why it's MY blog. New campaign slogan: "A chicken in every pot, and peelings in every tank..."

Day 1721 - Monday, Monday...

Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!

Yes, it's Monday AGAIN.
Yes, it's the beginning of another work week.

No, I didn't get the kitchen floor washed.
No, I didn't do my HOMEWORK yet.

I'll bet you already have absorbed that extra hour of sleep, and you don't want to get up and go to work any more than you did a week ago.

YES, we are still enjoying the Pinto Bean Pie.

'PBP' is a great idea for a bake sale, because no one can imagine what it tastes like, so they can't pass it up. (that means ME) I think $8 for the whole pie was pretty reasonable though.

Have a great Monday and TTFN!

Sunday, November 07, 2010

Day 1720 - Pinto Bean Pie???

Greetings, Blogregation -

DID YOU TURN YOUR CLOCKS BACK? If you didn't - better do it now!

I went to the annual holiday craft fair at the AgExpo park in Franklin yesterday.

My big 'find' was this - I paid $8 for a homemade, pinto bean pie! I could NOT pass up such a novelty.

IT IS YUMMY - definitely NOT a diet food.

Pinto Bean Pie was a depression era Southern recipe, and some versions of this were called 'Mock Pecan Pie'.

This one has coconut in it. Some recipes I read online yesterday did not. Yes, I had to research this - nobody I've spoken to has ever heard of pinto bean pie. Imagine a coconut pecan pie and that comes pretty close. Very sweet, with enough sugar and coconut so you don't notice there are BEANS in your DESSERT.

Hey - my thinking was it added some nutrition to a dessert - eh?

Enjoy your extra hour of sleep today - and I know you'll be envying our Pinto Bean Pie! Very cold again here this morning - 28 degrees.

Saturday, November 06, 2010

Day 1719 - The weekend is HERE

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders -

Maybe it's a Vampire Weekend for some people, but not me.

It could happen, right?

I didn't research this, but I guess the 'Vampire Weekend' thing is an album.

I have water aerobics this morning, then a craft fair to go to, and some grocery shopping, and I need to put flannel sheets on the bed. It is COLD!

Yesterday it didn't get out of the 40's, but later next week it'll be 70 again. (Thank goodness)

I also have HOMEWORK to do sometime... but I'll postpone that as long as possible.

TTFN and have a great Saturday!

Friday, November 05, 2010

Day 1718 - Friday, Hooray!

Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers -

Here is yet another picture of supreme cuteness, the butterfly and the babe.

It's Friday, Hooray!

You know what to do - march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

This week has gone by fast for me, not that I'm complaining.

I have another craft fair to go to this weekend (yay!), plus shopping and laundry and all that sort of stuff. I need to wash the kitchen floor, too - not my favorite thing.

Charlie will be hunting while I am keeping the economy rolling. It has (finally) turned cold here again, overnight freeze warnings are out.

What are YOU going to do this weekend? Hey - 15 more days till the next Harry Potter movie is released. Hurry, Harry!

Thursday, November 04, 2010

Day 1717 - Friday Eve!

Greetings, Bloggy Waitin' for the Weekenders!

Here's yet another cute Halloween picture of Miss Savi.

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is almost here, and then it will be time for Christmas and Christmas trees!

Where did the summer go- it was just here??

We saw a Christmas commercial at the movie theatre this past Sunday, come to think of it. Eeeek!

I need to make this really short - have a nice Thursday and TTFN!

Wednesday, November 03, 2010

Day 1716 - Midweek and Midlife

Greetings, Bloggy Middlers -

Yes, I'm still posting Halloween pictures of Miss Savi, since SOME OF THE FAMILY ISN'T ON FACEBOOK.

Well, what's going on in your world? Are you happy with the World Series outcome?

We resumed our programming classes yesterday at work, but this week's homework doesn't SEEM too hard.

Maybe that's because I HAVEN'T DONE IT YET.

For those of you who are C# fans, we learned Linq queries today. WAY cool stuff.

We watched a sci-fi movie last night with Uma Thurman and Ben Affleck called 'Paycheck'. It was good.

Guess that's all the news that's fit to print. TTFN!

Tuesday, November 02, 2010

Day 1715 - Twofer Tuesday

Greetings, Bloggy Twofer Tuesdayers -

Charlie and I already voted during early voting - but for all of you voters out there, I hope the lines are short for you!

Here's a great fall photo of thousands of leaves, and our little leaf gatherer, Savannah.

I remember the crackle and swish of leaves under my feet in New England - and I can still smell the musty scent of a leaf pile after I have jumped in it.

By the way - I also remember how very dry leaves crumble into bits and stick to your clothing, your socks, and in your hair

Speaking of remembering things - the countdown is ON to the end of Daylight Saving time, and shorter days. Turn the clocks back Saturday night before you go to bed.

TTFN and Happy Voting!

Monday, November 01, 2010

Day 1714 - November is HERE!

Greetings, Bloggy Pumpkin Carvers -

No, this is not my pumpkin, it's just another one with lots of teeth. I like it! They needed to fill in the eyeballs with black, I think.

So - how was your Halloween?

Charlie and I really enjoyed the movie 'Retired and Extremely Dangerous', then went out for a steak dinner at Logans Roadhouse.

Nope - no trick or treaters, even though it was a beautiful day around 70 degrees.

Just three more weeks of fall, y'all! Winter is coming - get the shovel sharpened and the rock salt ready.
