Day 893 - Thursday already!

Greetings, Bloggy Thirstin' for Thursdayers!

This week is flying by, and it's END OF MONTH, fingers crossed that everything runs smoothly overnight tonight.

I am already getting the feeling that summer is almost gone! Nooooo!

Wait a second, Savannah looks like she wants to be picked up.

Great-grammy Peggy bragged to me yesterday on the phone 'She let me hold her for an HOUR!'

She said she had the most wonderful day yesterday. I'm jealous!!! What about ME?

Hey - I never followed up on seeing 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' this past weekend. I enjoyed it! It was quite entertaining and the effects were good.

What I didn't enjoy was paying $2.50 for the stupid 3D glasses you have to wear! When did they decide to start charging for those, and that is a ridiculously high price for something disposable.

So, I'm saving them. However, the next 3D movie I go to, I probably won't be able to find them!

TTFN!

Day 892 - Midweek and Midlife

Greetings, Bloggy Middlers -

Look at the adorable smile on this baby girl! Too sweet!

She's a natural soccer star, look at that foot action.

I've got a touch of 'intestinal issue' this morning, just slugged down a shot of Pepto Bismol, which is totally disgusting stuff (but if it works, then it was worth it).

I had to hunt all over the house this morning because I didn't hang my towel back up after my shower yesterday morning.

I looked in the bedroom, in the laundry hamper, over here at the computer, in the guest room, in the den, everywhere!

Where was it, Karen?

It was hanging on the same towel rack rung I always put it on, IN THE OTHER BATHROOM. I am telling you, I am headed for alzheimers for sure. Maybe I shouldn't tell these things on the blog, the medical industry will use it as documentation against me.

TTFN and have a nice Wednesday!

Day 891 - Loaded for bear!

Greetings, Bloggy Twofers!

Monday is over, thank goodness...

Here's our little carnivore, trying out some bear. Delicious!

I'm running late this morning because I was unloading the dishwasher. I made a big batch of homemade salsa yesterday after work, so I had a lot of pots and pans to put away.

Back at work yesterday after 3 days out of the office for training. I left ON TIME YESTERDAY.

I enjoyed reading all the comments yesterday regarding 'hanger management', especially the tip about using backwards hangers to identify what doesn't get worn!

Yes, I have a tendency to over shop - must be glandular! I remember a coworker telling me that her mother would hide all her purchases in the trunk of the car. They wouldn't bring them inside unless 'Dad' wasn't home to witness all the 'shoppage'.

I need to go make my lunch - so TTFN and have a great Tuesday.

Day 890 - It's Monday, and I need h-Anger management!

Greetings, Monday morning blah-gers!

Before I say anything about hangers (a.k.a. h-Anger management), would you look at the cutest baby ever, tasting pineapple through a piece of cheesecloth!

She looks as happy as I do eating LOBSTER!

Heather - there will come a time when we can introduce her to lobster and 'the cracking of the shells' process!

But, back to topic - I need -H-anger management, meaning, my hanger situation is totally out of control.

Evil Bloggyman:
Can't you think of anything besides hangers to complain about? What kind of topic is that for the blog, dunce!

Hey - if you are in the same situation I am, you feel my pain... At least I admit it.
  1. I am already using all of my walk in closet and most of the guest room closet.
  2. I continue to find 'deals' at Goodwill and my closet is full of Ronnie Nicole, Liz Claiborne and Chicos.
  3. I keep 'duplicates' of the same style and size of some favorite clothes in plastic cubes, and I am running out of room in the plastic cubes.
  4. I have smaller sizes of some favorite clothes for 'when I will fit into that size'.
  5. I have enough clothes for at least 2 or 3 years, and haven't even worn some of them.
  6. I use the slacks-hanger-tabs on the hangers to layer multiple hangers in descending order.
  7. I am slowly learning to hate the plastic hangers that you can't nest, as well as the dry-cleaner hangers. Those are moving to the guest closet.
  8. I regularly donate clothes that come out of the guest closet back to Goodwill.

So - bloggy darlings - any suggestions?

Day 889 - Sunday!

Greetings, Blogregation!

Sunday church sign down the road 'Need a lifeguard? Ours walks on water!'

Here's another great 'Savi expression'.

Savannah could be thinking SO many things like:

Oh PUH-LEASE, not another picture!

or - Yes, I know the bear isn't edible, but if you'd just look away for a second, I want to sample it!

I am doing laundry this morning, and plan to swim, and maybe catch 'Journey to the Center of the Earth', and maybe make a new batch of salsa.

Have fun, whatever you do today!

Day 888 - What a nice number!

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!

It's day 'eat eat eat', I mean day 'ate ate ate'! Get it?

Look at this sweet face, I just want to put a picture of Savannah on the blog every day!

Adorable, adorable, adorable!

(gush gush gush - there I go, having a Grammy meltdown again)

Hey - did I give her that shirt? I'm not sure.

Eeek! It's 7am and I need to leave at 7:15.

TTFN and have a great weekend!

Friday, July 25, 2008

Day 887 - It's Friday, Hooray!

Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers! It's Friday!

You know what to do - march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

Miss Savannah has decided she likes the taste of pineapple - check it out!

Her expression is all wonder - a whole world of new sights, sounds and tastes, what could be more interesting?

My mornings are full of 'what am I going to see on the highway today'?

Yesterday I saw a fender bender in nearly-stopped traffic. Completely unnecessary and avoidable. Do people just stop paying attention when they aren't going 80 miles an hour?

Actually, they aren't paying attention when they're going 80 either.

Gas has come down this week to $3.89 at most of the stations here. I need to fill up today.

I'd better get a move-on, I stayed in bed this morning until almost 6:30 - how lazy is THAT?

TTFN and have a great weekend!

Thursday, July 24, 2008

Day 886 - Twas the Day Before Friday

Greetings, Bloggy Thirstin for Thursdayers!

Let's just call it 'Friday Eve'.

Savannah looks surprised that we have caught her in the act of eating cereal again, doesn't she?

Too cute!

Class went fine yesterday, except for a power outage in the afternoon. That, of course, knocked out all the computers and the projector.

We used our cell phones as flashlights in the ladies room, and the power was back on again in a short time.

We had a whopping class total of FIVE yesterday, and I think we are only getting one or two more students for the next session, a two-day class starting today.

Personally, I like small classes, because we get all of our questions answered and the 'mood' of the class is very relaxed.

Have a nice Thursday (or Friday Eve), whatever YOU are doing!

Day 885 - Midweek and Midlife

Greetings, Bloggy Middlers!

Here is Miss Savannah, looking like a Nascar race car driver.

She sure knows how to drive that bouncy chair, and look at her intense concentration!

Play 'vroom vroom' racing sounds...

I have (yet another) three days of training this week, so I'll be 'commuting' to the other side of Nashville for the remainder of the week.

That's a lot of gas, but three days of training always sounds good to me.

Speaking of gas - my new Honda CRV 4-door Color White turned 20000 miles yesterday! Happy Mileage Milestone (and 13 month anniversary to boot).

Speaking of commuting - I saw a tractor trailer make a U-turn yesterday, AND saw another guy driving on the wrong side of the road trying to park earlier this week.

Why these people do all this crazy driving around ME is a mystery!

Another bad driving habit - a guy two cars in front of me yesterday was tailgating the person in front of him. Every 10 seconds or so he would hit his brakes, because he was constantly too close to the person in front! Would someone tell me WHY he didn't back off so he wouldn't have to keep hitting his brakes? I don't get it!

Be careful today and TTFN!

Day 884 - Twofer Tuesday

Greetings, Bloggy Twofers!

Look at this adorable little foodie, I mean cutie!

This blog is going to be quick, because I am running late this morning.

I got up a few minutes late, took a shower, then I couldn't decide what to wear. Do you ever do that?

It is very hot and humid, and muggy even with air conditioning. Clothes are not my favorite things when it's hot.

We went to Logans Roadhouse last night for their 'Two dinners for $13.99' promotion. I had a 6oz sirloin, baked sweet potato, and salad. Charlie had tilapia, baked potato, and cole slaw.

That's it for now, folks!

Have a nice Tuesday, and TTFN!

Day 883 - Monday morning Blahs

Greetings, Monday morning Blah-gers!

Flowers for everyone, including Miss Savannah.

Isn't that a precious photo? Look how she's concentrating on the flower.

We had a nice time Saturday at Buddy Joe's cookout - thanks again, Joe!

He has a fire pit in his backyard. We roasted hotdogs and marshmallows and stuffed ourselves on BBQ ribs, sausages, hotdogs, salad, and dessert.

I made homemade black bean and corn salsa, and threw in a couple of garden green tomatoes, which made it even better!

Yesterday we went swimming and to a hunting-related 'Wildlife Extravaganza' at the Ag Expo.

We walked around and looked at all the exhibits, sampled some spices, etc. They even had a Pampered Chef booth, of all things. If you think about it, I guess hunters do a lot of cooking!

Have a great Monday and TTFN!

Day 881 - No time for bloggage

Hi everyone!

No time to blog, I have had a busy day already and it's not over yet. Off to a cookout soon at Buddy Joes.

I'm busy tomorrow to - so you might not hear from me again till Monday.

TTFN!

Day 880 - TGIF Has Arrived!

Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers!

Hooray, it's Friday! Let's celebrate by wearing funny hats!

You know what to do, march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!', wearing your hat.

Little Miss Savannah will show us how it's done.

Finger chewing is optional...

Charlie and I went to Applebees for supper last night. It was yummy as usual.

Why Applebees? Because we also needed to stop at the grocery store afterwards, and there is one in the same plaza. We dropped an additional $50 on 'a few things' at Publix.

We decided to make a restroom stop at Applebees before leaving for the grocery store - but we didn't know where the restrooms were.

I quipped 'Charlie, follow your prostate - it will lead us there...'

Was that too rude to put on the blog? I hope not.

I have a company picnic to go to starting at lunchtime, complete with 'Team Bonding' events. I will definitely stay long enough for the food!

Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend!

Day 879 - Better late than never?

Greetings, Thirstin' for Thursdayers!

I can't believe it is Thursday already - good grief. How will I ever catch up at this rate?

Speaking of better late than never - Charlie just received a doctors bill - from a visit he had on FEBRUARY 20th, 2008. (Heathers birthday, by the way) How does anything ever get paid at that rate? Good grief again.

To answer a question in yesterday's comments - no, I didn't make up 'If we cantaloupe, lettuce marry'.

I read it somewhere, many years ago - possibly in a list of sayings for an autograph book!

The whole poem is:
Do you carrot all for me?
My heart beets for you,
With your turnip nose
And your radish face,
You are a peach.
If we cantaloupe, Lettuce marry;
Weed make a swell pear.

Day 878 - If we Cantalope, Lettuce Marry

Greetings, Bloggy Gardeners!

First -let me say that this is NOT a picture of our mini-cantalope - we ate it last night before we took a photo.

However, ours looked just like this - a little larger than a grapefruit, and just the perfect size for us each to have half with no leftovers.

It was WONDERFUL, sweet as candy and just picked that day.

Now that I've done the food blog, I can tell a couple of stories about 'dumb things to do'.

Yesterday I was driving home after swimming at the health club. (No, the dumb thing is not the health club or swimming or driving home).

There is a left turn lane at a light that takes you onto I-65 south from Cool Springs Blvd. West. The light stops the traffic heading east on Cool Springs Blvd so you can cross over.

You get the picture? Wait for the light, cross Cool Springs Blvd, get on the highway. That lane is only for traffic getting on the highway.

Well, in turning left yesterday, I had to really SQUEEZE left because a TAXI CAB was using MY LANE as an opportunity to make a U-TURN from Cool Springs Blvd East to go over to Cool Springs Blvd West. No, he didn't belong in that lane AT ALL, and didn't care he was going the wrong way in the lane. What an idiot! I didn't even bother to honk.

Another story about misbehavior.

Charlie and I were talking about 'pink eye' last night after seeing something in a movie about it.

Charlie used to teach math at an all-boys private school. He has some funny stories about it.

He told me a story last night about a 'pink eye' outbreak at the school. How did the boys deal with it? They went all around the school rubbing their gooey eyes and then contaminating every doorknob with the virus.

Isn't that just like a bunch of boys?

TTFN!

Day 877 - Nice Moth, Charlie!

Greetings, Bloggy Twofers Tuesdayers!

Yes, I lived through Monday.

Look at this moth (or butterfly?) in the driveway (and yes, there is a grasshopper to the upper right of it).

Anybody know what kind of moth it is? Charlie thought it was a leaf until it moved!

Very scientific presentation with a ruler underneath as well.

We had a nice dinner out with TY and SY for Greek Food last night.

It was so fun to sit and laugh and listen to their belly-dance music. I had wonderful marinated chicken kabobs. We got 10% off with our 'smart card' discount, and we drank all their supply of Blue Moon beer while we were there.

SY gave me some homemade Cracker Jack, which is incredibly good. Thanks so much!

I'm running a bit late this morning, so I won't say more than 'Have a nice Tuesday' and TTFN!

Monday, July 14, 2008

Day 876 - Monday morning Blahs!

Greetings, Monday morning Blah-gers!

Even Savannah doesn't look too excited about Monday, she's a little 'tipsy' about it.

I like the way her forehead wrinkles when she looks concerned. CUTE.

Well, we had a nice day Saturday and I worked off and on yesterday.

I did manage to get some housework and grocery shopping done as well.

Have a nice Monday, if that's POSSIBLE! (dramatic sounding, isn't it?)

TTFN!

Day 875 - No time AGAIN for the bloggage

Hi everyone,

No time for bloggage - mix of work and housework!

TTFN!

Saturday, July 12, 2008

Day 874 - No time for bloggage Saturdays!

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!

I am sitting here in my swimsuit, leaving soon for water aerobics. It will be held outdoors, as the indoor pool is closed for sealing. The high today is expected to be 93 and muggy.

We have afternoon plans to visit Charlie's brother and Charlie's daughter and son in law, and go out for lunch. Looking forward to it!

TTFN and have a great Saturday!

Friday, July 11, 2008

Day 873 - Hooray, it's Friday!

Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers!

It's Friday, Hooray!

You know what to do - march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

Here is little Miss Savannah, looking up at the sunlight - isn't she adorable?

She's still chewing on her finger, it must be very delicious.

Heather - is she growing in any new hair yet, and if so, what color is it?

Unsolved mysteries with babies - what will their hair color be, and when they're first born, you don't know what their eye color will be either!

Hey - just in case you think I'm a swimming slacker... The indoor pool at the health club is currently closed for sealing, expected to reopen the 17th. The outdoor pool is open, but the last few days we've had thunderstorms in the afternoons.

I'm going to try to go over there today if the weather cooperates. It's expected to be 92 and muggy today, but it'll be OK in the water.

Have a great Friday and a great weekend! TTFN!

Thursday, July 10, 2008

Day 872 - Thursday Already?

Greetings, Thirstin for Thursdayers!

Here's our darling Savannah, dressed for the 'Think you can dance' show.

She looks like a hip-hopper or a crumper. TOO adorable!

Since she's chomping on her finger again, maybe she's a tea and crumpet-er?

This week has flown by and I have a deadline tomorrow and a deadline next Friday.

Next Friday is also a team picnic and 'bonding' event - bad timing, but I'll make an appearance for the food!

Charlie is getting ready to go fishing this morning, and he'll leave before I leave for work. Now that's dedication to retirement. He works very hard at not working!

Hey! I thought up a name for my favorite colt (out of this year's batch) who I pass on the way to work every day. The colt is a cream/gray color with a brown/black mane and tail. I think I mentioned a name was forthcoming. My name for the colt is 'Smoke'. I hope he or she likes it!

Gotta run - have a nice day!

Day 871 - Peter Piper - Come and Get 'Em

Greetings, Bloggy Middlers!

Sorry about all the junk on the table (including a bottle of wine, a box of butterfinger sticks, my orange lunch bag, magazines and bills) EXCEPT for all the peppers, squash, one cuke, and our first garden tomato!

Our green beans were eaten by rabbits, the squash hasn't done well at all this year, BUT the peppers are just going crazy!

That's mother nature for you...

I'll be chopping and freezing the extra green peppers for all the soups, omelettes, chili, and frittatas we eat.

I am really enjoying my hand-held vacuum sealer - it is easy to use and I have vacuum sealed both peppers and blackberries recently.

I brought a garden cucumber with my lunch yesterday, and shared it with a girl who recently started eating vegetarian. I was going to say 'gone vegan' but it sounded too much like 'going postal'. She was overjoyed, and said it was incredible.

Good job, Charlie!

Day 870 - Charlie to the rescue - Or - get the ear plugs!

Greetings, Bloggy Twofers!

Just a quick bloggage before I leave for work.

Here's a true story from yesterday, sorry I missed it...

Charlie was in our back field picking blackberries (which are wonderful this year).

All of a sudden the girls next door started SCREAMING and crying for all they were worth.

Their horses panicked and ran. Their mother came running to see who was hurt.

Charlie, worried, also hurried over to see what was wrong.

He found their mother holding her hand over her heart, saying 'They scared me to death!'. Charlie asked 'What was it? What's wrong?'

The girls mother, exasperated, said 'Our DOG was after the CAT. That's all.'

Charlie said those girls were so loud - shrieking and crying, and so distressed he thought something terrible had happened. We mothers call that 'DRAMA'. Nobody can turn it on and off like little girls.

TTFN!

Day 869 - Monday, Monday...

Greetings, Monday morning Blah-gers!

This lovely and artistic black and white photo of little Miss Savannah is adorable - that should start Monday off on a high note.

Did you enjoy the holiday weekend? We definitely did.

We attended and enjoyed 'Hancock' yesterday, but not quite as much as Will Smith's 'Men in Black' or 'Independence Day'.

Actually - it wasn't HIM at all. I have NO problem with his acting - I think he's great! I just don't like it when the director or producer (and I noticed he was one of the producers) makes moving images blurry to depict speed or pandemonium.

I want my movies CLEAR and SHARP, and I don't want to get motion sickness or feel disoriented during a movie!

Please pass that along to the motion picture industry, would you?

Still, it was the best movie we've seen lately! Hey by the way - has anyone seen the 'I am Legend' movie with the alternate ending, and how did you like it?

Have a great Monday getting back to the old routine! TTFN!

Day 868 - The Holiday Weekend is almost gone!

Greetings, Blogregation!

As seen on a church sign down the street...

We run on "higher power" fuel!'

That's a good one!

Charlie and I are going to enjoy our last day of the holiday weekend by:
  1. Going to the health club to swim.
  2. Catching the morning matinee of 'Hancock', which we are REALLY looking forward to seeing.
  3. Going out for lunch somewhere after the movie.

Hope you enjoy your weekend plans! TTFN!

Day 867 - No time for bloggage

Greetings, Bloggy Holiday Weekenders!

Too busy for bloggage here - hope you're having a nice weekend!

Day 866 - Happy 4th of July, Everyone!

Greetings, Bloggy Celebrants -

Happy 4th of July!

Agenda:

Charlie and I are going to the health club to swim, leaving soon.

I have to work for a bit (hopefully that goes smoothly) late this morning.

We are going to TY and SY's late afternoon for a 4th of July 'Grill Out and Gab In'. Yes, I made that up. We're having chips n dips, steaks, grilled sausages, and grilled veggies.

Whatever you're doing - hope it's fun!

Day 865 - 4th of July Holiday Eve Alert!

Greetings, Bloggy Holiday Celebrants!

Savannah is falling over in this picture, and has such a cute expression while she does it!

Heather - I need a picture of her mad or crying - I don't have one of those.

I 'should' have a short day at wirj today, they usually let us out at 2:00 or 3:00 the day before a holiday.

We were encouraged to wear red, white and blue today, so I have a red top on with a white pattern on it, and blue slacks. That'll have to do.

I used to have a 'flag' shirt but I gave it to Goodwill.

Hey - listen to this! I just bought a pair of Chicos slacks on eBay.

Yes, I have plenty of slacks (too many) but there are some favorites that I am wearing out! It is a pattern that is discontinued and very hard to find, and I have the matching shirt and matching jacket and love them.

Anyway - I just got them in the mail (thankfully they fit!), and they still had a red plastic hang tag from Goodwill (just the plastic not the paper part) on them. That made me laugh!

TTFN! Gotta go! Have a Happy 4th!

Day 864 - Cuteness Alert!

Greetings, Bloggy Middlers!

Here is Miss Sunshine Savannah herself, looking extra cute as always!

Changing subjects...

I've been meaning to mention a few things regarding gas prices and their impact.

On my drive in to work (only 20 miles), I've started to see large vehicles for sale in peoples yards. Without exception they are large trucks and SUVs.

My last gas fillup was $49.50, for my Honda CRV 4-door color white! That's the highest ever.

I was tempted to top it off so it would read $50, but $49.50 was impressive enough and I have already learned my lesson not to overfill my CRV when I thought the gas gauge wasn't working. (she shakes her head in shame at the memory)

A lady at work showed up today in a silver Saturn - she had traded in her (go figure) gold SUV!

Changing subjects to food prices - with the high price of corn nowadays, I stocked up on popcorn. 94% fat free butter flavored popcorn is on my 'must have' list.

Food transgression of the week - Charlie and I had 'New York Yankee' Reubens at Jasons Deli in Cool Springs on Sunday. That is a Reuben with both corned beef and pastrami on it. Absolutely, wonderfully delicious.

Have you ever been to a Jasons Deli? They have them all over the country.

http://www.jasonsdeli.com/

Have a nice Wednesday and TTFN!

Day 863 - Sleep your way into July!

Greetings, Bloggy Twofer Tuesdayers!

Look at this little sleeping angel! She has her ear folder over by her hand. Too cute!

Speaking of CUTE - there is a new batch of colts at the horse farm near the highway. They are so fun to watch.

I pass them every day, and most of the time one or all of them will be sprawled out on the grass resting - nothing moving but their little tails (that aren't long enough to sufficiently swat the flies that plague them).

My favorite is a cream/gray (can't tell yet) colored colt with a dark tail. I haven't given him a name in my head yet, but I feel one 'coming on'.

We also have more horses next door - there are horses everywhere this year. Both of our neighbors have horses, and more than one.

Well - enough of this horse talk - better get at it.

Happy July, everyone!
