Day 2230 - The Weekend is NOW!

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!

What are YOU up to this weekend? Just the usual for me, water aerobics, errands, and I need to mail out Easter cards SOON!

Hey - for those who aren't local, the Opry Mills Mall reopens this weekend!

It's been two long years since the flood that overflowed the Cumberland River, affecting the Opryland Hotel and the mall.

The Rainforest Cafe' has reopened, and the Aquarium Restaurant. I saw on the news there was going to be a Chuy's Mexican restaurant, Dave & Busters, and more.

I don't know about places like the Apple Barn, Harry & Davids, and Old Navy. I guess I'll just have to go see for myself one of these days.

No, I will NOT be attending GRAND OPENING WEEKEND, I can't imagine the mob scene there.

TTFN and have a nice weekend!

Day 2229 - T.G.I.F!

Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers!

It's Friday, Hooray!

You know what to do, march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

This blog will be short and sweet, I am out of time this morning...

I don't think I've mentioned that the 'Horses in the Corner' that I write about sometimes ARE NOW THE PROUD PARENTS OF A BABY COLT!

I passed them today and the little colt stays in between Mom and Dad - it is the cutest thing.

So - what should we name it? Middler? How about Twixt?

Day 2228 - Snow in Maine, Heatwave Here!

Greetings, Bloggy Hot Stuff's!

It's HOT, and it's NOT EVEN APRIL YET. In Maine, they're having SNOW!

We've had several days in a row of 80's here.

I'm not used to the car being so hot when I go out at lunch or when I leave to go home. I don't have my summertime sun shade in the car right now either.

With these temps, I need to put everything that I don't want to MELT into a cooler in the back of the car during the day. Charlie changes the blue ice in it daily.

I started doing that after my swim caps MELTED in the car, and my swimsuits were getting destroyed by the heat.

Several more days of 80's expected before it cools off - to the 70's...

TTFN and stay cool!

Day 2227 - The Times They are A-Changin'!

Greetings, Bloggy Change Masters!

You may have noticed that Blogger keeps changing as time goes on. The comments have started displaying differently, and they were different again today.

When I logged on to write todays blog, there was a notice that Blogger will have a new look starting in April. That doesn't sound OPTIONAL, so just be prepared now that things are about to change. I really don't know what will change, just that it will.

Another big change in April - after nearly 6 years, I will be moving to a different part of the building at work, and will lose my window. I am not upset about it because I feel like it's someone else's turn to enjoy being at the window, and I'm lucky I've sat in the same area for so long.

One thing that always stays the same? Change!

Day 2226 - Hunger Games, and Game of Thrones!

Greetings, Bloggy Gamers!

I know, I've been talking a lot about the Hunger Games, BUT DID YOU KNOW THAT SEASON TWO OF THE GAME OF THRONES IS STARTING THIS COMING SUNDAY???

I've read all the books, multiple times. I can truthfully say that it is my favorite epic fantasy book series of all time. I prefer the books to the HBO series, but I will definitely watch every episode.

My favorite character? Arya Stark. I just love Arya to pieces. And trust me, even if you hate Tyrion so far, he'll grow on you.

Other favorite epic fantasy series? Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, of course, The Runelords by David Farland, and The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss.

TTFN and GAME(s) ON!

Day 2225 - Been There, Seen That, Going Again!

Greetings, Bloggy Gamers!

Yep, Charlie and I managed to get a good seat yesterday morning at a Hunger Games performance.

Yep, the theatre was full.

Nope, I'm not going to give any spoilers here, except to say that I shed a few tears during the movie, and Jennifer Lawrence, the girl who played Katniss is FABULOUS.

I will say that I really enjoyed it, and I want to see it again, and I'm NOT waiting for it to come out on video. I am thinking I might like to see it in the IMAX theatre.

TTFN and enjoy it when you see it!

Day 2224 - Everybody in the Pool!

Greetings, Blogregation!

First- we might try to get in to see the Hunger Games today, fingers crossed!

Second - is this the strangest hot tub you ever saw? You heat the water with a wood fire, and can port it to odd places on the planet...

I overheard a child in the locker room yesterday say 'Mommy, why is that HOT POOL there?' Yes, there is a small hot tub inside the ladies locker room.

Mommy explained that THEY were not going in, and continued moving the child toward the doorway.

I chuckled about the 'HOT POOL' terminology.

TTFN and have a nice Sunday!

Day 2223 - Saturday Stuff...

Greetings, Bloggy Feet Firsts!

Why Savannah wanted to 'Get on the Good Foot' in the picture is beyond me, but I ended up with a great photo of her FOOT. HA!

I'll also give my sister credit that her floors must be pretty clean - for obvious reasons.

So, today I'll be at water aerobics, then running errands, and I might need to work a little during the weekend too.

TTFN and have a great Saturday!

Day 2222 - All Creatures Great and Hungry...

Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers!

It's Friday, Hooray! Let the Games Begin!

You know what to do, march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

I have a cute story from the health club yesterday. A very young boy was in the ladies locker room with his mother.

From afar - I heard his little voice say 'Mom! Want to see how high I am?'

I was perplexed about what he meant until I heard his mother say 'That's for your weight, not for how high you are'. She was talking about the SCALE...

To me, it was also funny that she didn't correct his 'How High I Am' to 'How Tall I Am', but she was speaking his language.

Have a great and Hungry Weekend!

Day 2221 - Hungering for the Hunger Games!

Greetings, Bloggy Gamers!

IF you didn't already know, it's almost time for the premiere of 'The Hunger Games'.

EVERY person I know who has read the books (there are 3 in the series) really enjoyed them. This includes yours truly, Charlie, and Heather, to name a few.

I also read a blurb online that said that people who did not read the books would also enjoy the movie - so don't worry if you don't know the storyline.

I predict that the Hunger Games will take the box office totals this weekend by a landslide. I can say that, because we are planning to go too!

So, tell me... Are you going to the movies this weekend?

Day 2220 - Midweek and Midlife

Greetings, Bloggy Ducklings!

Do you remember Danny Kaye, and all the wonderful Hans Christian Anderson tales and songs he did?

Songs like 'Inchworm', 'There Once Was an Ugly Duckling', and 'Thumbelina' - to name a few.

One of these days, maybe soon, I'll get a deal and grab them on CD and DVD.

I also miss all the nice stories and 'read-alongs' that used to air on the Captain Kangeroo show, like 'Make Way for Ducklings'.

Someday I plan to perform my own classic book read-alongs on YouTube, but not till I retire!

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Day 2219 - Into the Stratosphere!

Greetings, Bloggy Smart Phoners!

Yes, all the rumors are true. Peyton Manning wants to go to the Broncos instead of Tennessee, and I have entered the realm of smart phone users, data plan payments, and the land of the app.

No, I haven't downloaded any apps yet, but everyone I talk to suggests at least one.

I had a steady stream of coworkers 'stop by' my cube at work to check out my phone.

These are the same people I see every day, but they might not normally visit me unless I do something 'cool' like buy a smart phone.

That is VERY funny to me!

Monday, March 19, 2012

Day 2218 - Heatwave!

Greetings, Bloggy Sunworshippers!

It is supposed to be in the HIGH 80's for the next couple of days. We've got the air conditioning cranking in the car and at home.

I love the warmer weather, but this is ridiculous! REMINDER - THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING HAS NOT ARRIVED YET.

I am at a loss for what to wear at work. It will be blazing hot outside, and freezing inside the building once the a/c kicks on. I guess I'll just dress in layers like usual.

Fashion Faux Pas - I wore white shoes yesterday, and have started putting away my thermal tops. I won't need them again till the fall.

TTFN and hope you stay cool!

Sunday, March 18, 2012

Day 2217 - Coming Un-Hinged!

Greetings, Blogregation!

Well, old reliable ISN'T reliable anymore. The hinge is broken on my cell phone, and it is difficult to open and close.

Of course, with a flip phone, the hinge is pretty darn important!

So - sometime today after we work out, Charlie and I are going to the Verizon store to spend some of our tax refund.

To Be Continued...

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Day 2216 - There's a Hole in my Bucket-List!

Greetings, Bloggy Leprechauns!

Happy St. Patricks Day to all celebrants out there - whether celebrating means green beer or dipping into the pot 'o gold.

I'm not going to write much today, but wanted to say that yesterday I thought of something to add to my bucket list, and promptly FORGOT what it was!

If it was good enough to add to my to-do list of LIFE, I would imagine REMEMBERING IT might be easy?

Evidently not.

TTFN and have a great day!

Friday, March 16, 2012

Day 2215 - Rainbow Alert! Rainbow Alert!

Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers,

It's Friday, Hooray!

You know what to do, march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

Can you see that this photo has TWO rainbows in it? One very bright one over our barn, with another, faded rainbow to the left of it?

For the past two days, we've had thunderstorms in the afternoon. It's been very hot with temps near 80 degrees. A double rainbow and thunderstorms in MARCH? Go figure...

TTFN and have a wonderful weekend!

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Day 2214 - Learning to Swim!

Greetings, Bloggy Swimmers!

See that tiny white swim cap, almost fully submerged?

That cap is attached to Savannah, and if you look closely - you can see her under the water!

It was so fun to go to her swim class and dance class. Other parents smiled and gave me room to take a zillion pictures, trying to get one like this one!

I ran out of batteries that day, and bought more at Sams Club. We taught Savannah to use the bar code scanners in Sams Club (that she called 'Scammers'), and handed her items to scan so we could see how much they cost.

Then we would decide whether or not to buy it, and Savannah would be looking for the next item we needed to check. She loved it.

Day 2213 - Midweek and Midlife

Greetings, Bloggy Middlers!

Here's a great shot of our talented songstress in full voice.

She knows lots of songs, but during our weekend together it was all about 'On the Good Ship Lollipop'.

We sat at the computer and watched and rewatched a clip from the Shirley Temple movie, singing along most of the time.

Savannah especially liked the part about having a tummy ache, she obviously knows what Shirley was singing about!

Day 2212 - The Birthday Beauty, and the Bachelor Beast!

Greetings, Bloggy Birthday Celebrants!

I think this is my very favorite photo from Savi's birthday party - when she was opening Aunt Nancy's card!

I have been wading through 400 photos, and have extracted about 20 so far that I think belong in the 'best of'.

I am going to miss Savannah calling me 'Darling', and all the sweet things she does! I'll be back in New England this summer, and I know it will be here soon.

Changing subjects completely, I was VERY disappointed in the final episode of 'The Bachelor', and it just proves how BLIND, BLIND, BLIND love can be. Blech.

TTFN and have a nice Tuesday!

Monday, March 12, 2012

Day 2211 - Au Revoir, Land of Clam!

Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!

We had a wonderful 4th birthday party for Savannah yesterday. There were two other little girls there - one cried because she couldn't open any of the presents.

Savannahs favorite present? Some day-glo mini rubber SNAKES that I bought her. Go figure...

The cake from Sams Club was a success. It wasn't dry, and the whipped cream style frosting was MUCH better than that crisco-tasting stuff that I always scrape off.

The pizza was great, and we ordered 4 pizzas for 12 people (including kids). We had one 'supreme', one spinach and feta, one cheese, and one pepperoni.

I am on my way back to Nashville, and hope to make it in time for a dentist appointment this afternoon.

TTFN and have a great Monday!

Sunday, March 11, 2012

Day 2210 - Time Change and Birthday Party!

Greetings, Blogregation!

DID YOU REMEMBER TO MOVE YOUR CLOCKS AHEAD AN HOUR? 'Fall Back, Spring Ahead' is the saying...

Today is Savi's 4th birthday party, and we'll have a fun time.

We're having pizza delivered, and of course we'll have birthday cake!

We'll pick up the cake later this morning at Sams. It has butterflies on it, and the plates and party favors are butterfly themed as well.

I need to remember to do my flight check in for tomorrow, by the way, I'd better set an alarm on my phone.

TTFN and have a great Sunday - we will too!

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Day 2209 - Making Landfall in New England!

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!

I had a pleasant journey yesterday to the 'Land of the Clam' - Rhode Island.

I sampled exotic airport delicacies like McDonalds breakfast oatmeal with fruit for $1.99. It wasn't too bad, it could have used more water and some milk too!

I ordered a side item of apple slices for a dollar - you get FOUR slices. That wasn't a bargain.

I had a great time visiting with the FAM and drinking in all the new things that Savannah can do! What a difference between 3.5 and 4. She is so confident and loving. It's so nice to be here.

My photography attempts have mostly resulted in blurry photos, she's moving all the time.

TODAY I get to go to swim class and dance class with Savannah, though parents aren't allowed to peek in dance class!

TTFN!

Friday, March 09, 2012

Day 2208 - No time for bloggage

No time for bloggage - gotta get to the airport to go visit with the FAM.

TTFN, have a wonderful Friday, and a wonderful weekend!

Thursday, March 08, 2012

Day 2207 - The Bad and the Good...

Greetings, Bloggy Movie Lovers!

I watched an awful movie on-demand the other day - Nicholas Cage in 'Drive Angry'.

Drive Angry is a story about a father who comes back from hell to avenge his daughters death. It was terrible.

On the flip side, Charlie and I watched a good movie this past weekend - 'Fracture' with Anthony Hopkins.

Fracture is a legal thriller with Anthony Hopkins trying to get away with murder... literally. Very good.

TTFN and happy movie renting!

Wednesday, March 07, 2012

Day 2206 - Open Wide!!!

Greetings, Bloggy Shoppers...

Good news!

In addition to Savi turning four, our most beauteous, fabulous new dishwasher arrived yesterday. It's so awesome I almost forget that it cost money.

And no, I didn't get my tax refund yet. Still bad timing.

When you look inside it, the view is JUST LIKE the photo. All silvery and stuff!

The silverware basket is moveable, but we normally will leave it in the door.

I love it very much, and I think I'll call it... SPLASH.

Day 2205 - Happy Birthday, Miss Savi...

Greetings, Birthday Granddaughter!

Here's a picture from last year's birthday celebration. At three, she was just starting to enjoy opening the packages.

A year later, she REALLY enjoys opening presents!

What else does our favorite FOUR YEAR OLD like?

The color yellow. The color pink.

Ice cream. Music. Movies. All things Princess.

Puppies, bunnies, kitties, lizards, snakes, and dinosaurs too.

Happy Fourth Birthday, Savannah! I'll see you soon!

Monday, March 05, 2012

Day 2204 - Tis the Last Day to be THREE!

Greetings, Bloggy Birthday Eve Celebrants!

Today is the last day my granddaughter will be three - tomorrow she will be FOUR years old - nearly school aged!

Four... what do I remember about being four? Not very much, to be honest with you. My sister Lyn remembers her early years better than I do.

I'll be heading out there for a big birthday celebration weekend this coming Friday. I am already getting packed.

TTFN and have a great Monday!

Sunday, March 04, 2012

Day 2203 - Sunday is Catch Up on Sleep Day!

Greetingzzzzzzz, Bloggy Sleepeezzzzzzzz...

I am yawning as I am writing this.

...need sleep...
...need more sleep...
...tomorrow is Monday again...
...need sleep...

Going to nap now - have a nizzzzzzzzze day!

Saturday, March 03, 2012

Day 2202 - Go To Sleep, Slumber Deep...

Greetings, Bloggy Sleeping Beauties!

That's right, yours truly is going to a Slumber-ette Party tonight!

We're going to make margaritas, watch movies, eat popcorn, laugh a lot, and do some Wii dancing.

Nope, no karaoke that I know of...

AREN'T YOU TOTALLY JEALOUS? Darn Straight you are!

Friday, March 02, 2012

Day 2201 - Stormage Again??

Greetings, Bloggy Stormchasers...

It's Friday, Hooray!

You know what to do, march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

The forecast is for more severe weather today, which happens alot here in Tennessee when we have warm air colliding with cold air. It is supposed to be in the 70's (that's the warm part), with cold air coming in from the other side.

That, my friends is how storms are born.

Charlie and I are supposed to meet up at the health club for a swim this afternoon, and then go out for dinner, weather permitting.

Be safe out there - have a nice Friday and a nice weekend!

Thursday, March 01, 2012

Day 2200 - Remembering Davy Jones

Greetings, Bloggy Monkee Fans!

First - it's March 1st, and it's coming in like a lion, isn't it?

I know, you're probably wondering why I chose to write a blog after Davy Jones passed away, but didn't write one for Whitney Houston?

Well, the answer is simple. I loved Whitney's voice, and I even saw her in concert, but didn't have a teenage crush on Whitney like I did for Davy Jones.

Yes, the show was corny and stupid, but I liked his singing. If you never heard him sing 'I wanna be free', the slow ballad version, it is very simple and very sweet.

Yes, I also fell in love with Peter Tork, AFTER my older, wiser sister said she liked him better (I did the exact same thing with Paul McCartney and John Lennon, you know).

Listen to 'I wanna be free' at this link on YouTube. This is the version I like best, and I had to look at about 20 videos before I found the one I wanted.

Click on this link

Love ya, Davy!
