Day 923 - Lobstah buffet, here I come!

Greetings, Bloggy Lobster Lovers!

This afternoon we'll be visiting the famous Nordic Lodge 'all you can eat' lobster buffet.

Actually, Charlie has decided that Alaskan King Crab is easier to eat than lobster, and I'll have some of that too.

The buffet highlights are Lobster, clams, shrimp, crab, filet mignon, prime rib - as well as wonderful desserts, a Haagen Daas ice cream bar, and a million other things.

My son always eats a plate of rice pilaf too - probably the least expensive item on the menu!

Anyway - check it out at www.nordiclodge.com!

TTFN! Gee - did I bring any heartburn tablets??? EEEK! Better to go Walmart...

Day 922 - Newport - here we come!

Greetings, Bloggy Vacationers (or Vacation Wanna Be's!)

It's Friday already! You know what to do, march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

We are leaving Maine this morning, and headed to beautiful and glamorous Newport, Rhode Island.

March in a circle chanting 'New-port! New-port! New-port!'

Here is a photo of where I WISH I was staying, but I can't quite afford it...

We'll spend a week there, then it'll be time for me to head back to Tennessee.

The blogging will be a bit slim for the next week - I'll write a few in advance to auto post while I am away. (NO, I won't have a computer while I am there).

TTFN and have a nice weekend!

Day 921 - Nice trip - even without Moose!

Greetings, Bloggy Dearests!

What a great trip we had yesterday on the Moose Loop, which took us through Rumford, Mexico, the Height of Land, Rangeley Lake, Errol, New Hampshire, Newry, Bethel, and much more!

I haven't downloaded MY pictures yet - but this one, of 'Screw Auger Falls' in Grafton Notch State Park, Maine is SUPERB.

I can't wait to see my pictures! I'm going to Walmart later today to put them on CD.

http://www.newenglandwaterfalls.com/waterfall.php?name=Screw%20Auger%20Falls%20(Grafton)

At the 'Height of Land', we chatted with hikers walking the Appalachian Trail, including one group of 3 hikers taking a month to go from Mt. Katahdin in Maine to Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. I admire them so much!

We ate our Sams Italians at a picnic table at Rangeley Lake state park, where other picnickers were swimming and squealing in the lake water.

We continued on, past many mountains, rivers and scenic views. We ate ice cream at a store (hodgepodge of outfitter, house, store and ice cream shop) in New Hampshire. Signs on the windows said 'Ammunition, bait, and ice cream. Bikers Welcome'.

We rang a little bell outside the ice cream window, and was greeted by a bear of a man with a shirt that read 'I shoot deers and drink beers, that's how I roll'. He took the screen completely off the ice cream window to serve through it.

He said 'I didn't think you'd come over here - you parked next to the STORE'. Well, excuuuuse ME if we were supposed to park over at the ice cream window if we wanted ice cream... I guess we just tricked him, didn't we?

He served up way-oversized ice cream cones, which we appreciated. When I asked for extra napkins, he said 'I'll have to go find some'. I politely suggested he give us a couple of paper towels, which he handed over like he hadn't thought of it himself.

Our last stop was Screw Auger Falls - which is a WONDERFUL place, not to be missed. The falls do not require a long hike, are vastly photogenic, and even good for KIDS! I think I went there as a kid, and we tore the bottoms out of our swimsuits sliding on the rocks.

We arrived home in time to get LOBSTERS for dinner - what could be a better day??

Day 920 - Sams Italians, here I come!

Greetings, Bloggy Middlers! It's Wednesday!

Today we are taking a car trip to the Rangely Lakes region and the 'Height of the Land', part of the Moose watching loop that takes you past several state parks and spectacular views.

Charlie and I tried to do this tour last Thanksgiving, but there was so much SNOW we had to turn back.

BY THE WAY - IT WAS FORTY DEGREES THIS MORNING WHEN MY MOTHER CHECKED THE THERMOMETER AT 6:30AM.

Have a great day! TTFN!

Day 919 - The prodigal blogger has returned

Hola! I wonder if I remember how to blog... (or ever knew!)

First order of events - Congratulations to Heather and Mike on their August 22nd Florida elopement! Nothing like 'gettin' legal' - maybe Charlie and I ought to try that sometime...

I just returned from 5 days, 4 nights at our annual Ferry Beach retreat. We had a wonderful time. Ate WAY too much food at the 3 daily buffets, plus had ice cream and moccachinos and smoothies at the 'camp store'.

Our art project was tie dyed t-shirts. Wait till I get a photo of my newly tie-dyed shirt, purple and red. I am very happy with it! My mother's and Aunt Nancy's shirts came out great too, my mother's in a spiral pattern, Aunt Nancy's 'alligator pleats' in various greens and yellows.

We had a field trip to Wood Island lighthouse - http://www.woodislandlighthouse.org/
Happy 200th anniversary to the lighthouse!

Another comment - Wood Island Light is right next to a small island that was used in the Underground Railroad to help escaped slaves get to Canada, and freedom. Cool!

Gotta go - coffee is calling! TTFN!

Day 916 - Lobst-ah and Steam-ahs

Greetings, Bloggy New Englanders!

That's what I am again while I'm in Maine Maine Maine.

(play Maine state song, beginning 'Grand State of Maine, proudly we sing...)

I've posted a photo of a lobster bake to keep you company.

No more bloggage until Monday, sorry about that...

TTFN and have a great weekend!

Day 914 - Leavin' on a jet plane

Greetings, Thirstin' for Thursdayers! Or is it Thirstin' for vacationers?

As you read this, I am on a plane (or series of planes) travelling to Portland, Maine. My mother and Aunt Nancy are meeting me at the airport, and we will spend several glorious days on the ocean, soaking up sun and sea.

Actually, one of the first things we'll be doing is enjoying haddock chowder (chowda) at a place called Huots in Camp Ellis, Maine. This is a tradition, and we'll be going back there tomorrow!

I notice that a lobster roll has gone up to FIFTEEN DOLLARS - ouch!

Warning - when you click on their website it plays music, which I really don't like. http://www.huotsseafoodrestaurant.com/

I don't know yet if I'll be charged extra for having (heaven forbid) a SUITCASE, but at least I'm just bringing ONE.

Gotta go - TTFN and a reminder - my blogging will be very sporadic during my VACATION.

That is what VACATION is all about!

Day 913 - Belly up to the Bar - Soap...

Greetings, Bloggy Midweekers!

I mentioned something about soap at work the other day - and both people I was talking to said THEY DON'T HAVE ANY BAR SOAP IN THEIR HOUSE! What? No bar soap?

Did I miss some change happening in the world?

Is 'global warming' contributing to the increase in liquid soap products?

One lady even said she thought that bar soap 'gets dirty'. Uh... it's SOAP.

Anyway - soap has been made for thousands of years (2800 B.C. possibly), and a revolution happened that I guess we missed. Oh, well...

To read more about the history of soap... Click on THIS!

TTFN and stay clean!

Day 912 - Twofer Tuesday

Greetings, Bloggy Babies!

This wonderful green stuff is a mixture of avocado and banana - I can't even TYPE that without grimacing. BLECH! (or BLANCH)

However, I think Savannah is happy trying it, though she looks a little ... green... around the gills. Ha!

Only a couple more days till my vacation, and I need to do so many things that I am grouchy. Apologies to everyone I growl at until I am ON VACATION.

I am actually writing this Monday night so I can go into work early 'today' - Tuesday.

Wish me luck, catching up! TTFN!

Day 911 - Ooo, that's not a good number

Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!

We had a DELICIOUS outing yesterday with Buddy Joe to Fly, Tennessee.

We went to our favorite Cajun restaurant, Papa Boudreauxs.

Joe and Charlie ordered etouffee' entrees, and I had gumbo - as well as ordering a piece of Creole Fried Catfish for each of us as a side item. OUTSTANDING, UNBELIEVABLE, and DECADENT.

Can you see the sign over the door at Papa Boudreaux's?

It says 'Eat, Drink and Remarry'. That is hilarious! Thanks to Joe for sending me this from his picture phone.

Take care and have a nice Monday! TTFN!

Sunday, August 17, 2008

Day 910 - Sunday is FunDay!

Greetings, Super Sundayers!

Here is Miss Savannah CHEWING instead of BATHING - ha!

We watched some of the Olympics last night - we had to see if Michael Phelps got his 8th gold medal -and he did!

Congratulations to all of the athletes, and extra hugs to all the USA ones.

I hope the people who win silver and bronze really do appreciate their wins, the golds are not the only prize!

I had a dream last night that I worked at a military hospital. We had a visit from a bunch of Marines who were passing through, going home.

One of the newly arrived servicemen leaned over to smell the creme rinse in my HAIR, like a flowerbed. Should I have told that? Anyway, I guess I think my hair smells good.

We're off to swim, then meeting buddy Joe later and hitting Papa Boudreaux's for an early supper. TTFN!

Day 909 - Saturday!

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!

Here's another cute picture of Miss Savannah - aka Baby Einstein.

I'll be leaving soon for water aerobics, but thought it would be nice if I leave a short bloggage for the 'masses'.

I have two things on my mind - 'What do I need to get ready for my trip', and 'What do I need to do at work so I can have peace of mind ON my trip'?

I am taking a memory stick with some photos of FB and of Savannah to be developed today, so I can bring them on my trip. Of course Savannah and the blog are always on my mind.

Nancy - I can't remember those shopping opportunities, so please remind me next week.

Take care and have a nice Saturday!

Day 908 - Friday already!

Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers -

It's Friday! Make a big SPLASH!

Swim in a circle, chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

Here's another cute photo of Savi playing with her tub toys.

Speaking of swimming - the US swimmers and volleyball players (and some of the gymnasts!) are tearing it up at the Olympics, aren't they? Awesome.

Go, Phelps, Go!

The commitment and training dedication they show is absolutely amazing. I think I'd be burned out by the time I turned 19. Sheesh!

This week has flown by, and I'm getting that 'Uh-oh, I only have a few more workdays to do all this work before I go on vacation' feeling.

I only have THREE more work days next week - then I'll be off until after Labor Day week. Wahoo!

I'd better get crackin' - have a wonderful weekend and TGIF!

Day 907 - Totally TUB-ular!

Greetings, Bloggy Thirstin for Thursdayers!

Here is Miss Savannah who is in her new bath seat - she is growing so fast!

Savannah is chewing on something in most of the photos I've seen lately - where oh where are those new teeth?

Only a couple weeks till I will be able to SQUEEZE her! Yahoo!

Back to something Nancy asked yesterday - what is Bonnaroo?

Bonnaroo is a 'Woodstock-like', outdoor multi-day music event that happens every June in Manchester TN.

It is a huge deal and attracts many, many thousands of tie-dyed, fragrant and sweaty campers... The people who go generally love it, but it is not my thing - I want air conditioning and to be able to take a BATH (back to our Savannah theme of the day).

For more information - see www.bonnaroo.com
Also - for the bonnaroo photo gallery go to: http://bonnaroo.com/media.aspx

Have a great Thursday everyone! Go green but stay clean! Ha!

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

Day 906 - Happy Birthday, Evan!

Greetings, Bloggy Midweekers!

Savannah is all dressed up for a Grateful Dead concert, or Bonnaroo if you are in Tennessee.

She is celebrating her Uncle Evan's birthday!

We won't say which one it is, that's not polite.

I sent Evan some movies - he asked for 'CaddyShack' and 'Young Frankenstein', and I ordered 'The Goonies' for him as well.

They arrived on time and he was watching one last night! Success!

I am running late this morning because I couldn't decide what to wear. I tried on several combinations before I decided to go with one.

Does that mean I won't be able to make any quick decisions today?

Charlie snored in a very cute and musical way last night. I told him about it this morning and he said he didn't think it was possible to snore in a cute way. Maybe that depends on who is doing the listening!

Have a great Wednesday and TTFN!

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Day 905 - Tuesdays are delicious!

Greetings, Twofer Tooth-day!

Savannah is sampling another gadget on her 'Baby Einstein' play center, the big orange flower.

How does it taste, cutie pie?

She is thinking 'well, if I'm here, and this is an activity center, I might as well get busy chewing as my activity'. Does Savannah think she's a puppy?

Charlie just went by with his coffee cup, fixed up with sugar and creamer. He showed me the inside, he'd forgotten to put the coffee in. Sorry, Charlie, you must have caught that forgetfulness from me.

Oops - I just noticed the time, so I've got to make this short.

Have a nice Tuesday, everyone! TTFN!

Monday, August 11, 2008

Day 904 - Put your best foot forward!

Greetings, Monday morning Blah-gers!

Savannah has put her best foot forward, and captured it with her mouth. Good thing her teeth aren't in yet.

This photo is hilarious! Priceless!

Thanks to Heather for keeping us supplied with pictures of Savannah, I just love them!

She looks like the gymnasts we saw on the Olympics yesterday - flexible as can be!

If you were watching the Olympics yesterday, did you notice how YOUNG the gymnastics girls look, even when they are 19 and 20 years old? Whassup with THAT? Does all that exercise prevent you from 'growing up'? (you know what I mean)

By the way - I want to see the opening ceremony again - are they going to show it again somewhere? Nancy - let me borrow your tape when you come to Maine.

Guess I'd better get a move-on, and keep MY feet on the FLOOR!

Sunday, August 10, 2008

Day 903 - Out the door again

Greetings, Blogregation!

Did you see the Olympics Opening Ceremonies? They were awe inspiring.

Charlie and I went to see 'Dark Knight' yesterday. It was very good, but very dark and violent.

We're off to the health club shortly for a swim. Before we leave, I want to tell this story...

Charlie witnessed a new and stupid 'things that drivers do that you can't believe' scenario the other day. I want to pass this one on.

Picture a school zone with the blinking lights on, speed limit either 15 or 20 mph - I'm not sure.

Anyway, these zones are often heavily enforced, with police cars watching. Most people are careful, and do slow down because there are kids crossing and buses everywhere, etc.

Charlie witnessed a driver (just this week, schools are back in session here) SPEEDING IN THE BREAKDOWN LANE, THROUGH THE SCHOOL ZONE, in order to get their own kid to school.

No matter that they were driving in the breakdown lane. No matter that they could have wiped out a bunch of other peoples kids. No matter that they were ignoring the speed limit.

There are so many dumb butts out there, I wonder how things function!

TTFN and have a SAFE Sunday!

Saturday, August 09, 2008

Day 902 - No time for bloggage!

Greetings, Bloggy Dearests!

No time to blog, gotta go to water aerobics. Charlie and I might go see Batman (finally) today!

TTFN!

Day 901 - Friday!

Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers!

It's Friday! You know what to do, march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

Let's have a prune free weekend and celebrate the start of the Olympics!

By the way - my favorite dancer this year, Joshua, won the 'Think you can dance' show last night. I felt pretty confident he would win, and I even voted for him several times.

Changing subjects...

I learned a new phrase from the 'Vocabulary Book of Charlie' yesterday.

He referred to someone who is always in a hurry as someone who 'Goes in a jerk'.

Now, I couldn't find that on google, has anyone heard that one before?

Have a nice Friday, everyone, and a nice weekend!

Thursday, August 07, 2008

Day 900 - Let the Bubbles loose!

Greetings, Bloggy Celebrants!

It's day 900 - yes - NINE HUNDRED of 'da blog', and we are celebrating by setting a flock of bubbles free from captivity. Go back to the wild!

Cheers and applause from the audience...

Savannah participated in this event, waving the bubbles on their journey...

Prunes and oatmeal for everyone!

Gotta go cut up a honeydew melon to take with my lunch, so TTFN and Happy Day 900!

Wednesday, August 06, 2008

Day 899 - Hey! It's 900-eve!

Greetings, Bloggy Midweekers!

Here is little Miss Baby Einstein Savannah, doing some calculus modeling before breakfast.

Look at the concentration on her little brainy face!

Heather, that's a great activity area, and it looks like it has captured all her attention.

She looks so fair in the sunshine...

My grandpa Perham used to pat all the babies on the head and say that they had 'the Perham dome' - which is some kind of famous head shape in our family.

Then he'd coo - 'gotta good ol' dome, there, baby gotta good ol' dome'.

I'm glad I remembered that!

Well, I need my 'good ol dome' working overtime before my vacation. My nightly jobs are running slow, my other systems are struggling, and I have a server conversion and a bunch of deadlines midmonth.

Hope YOU have a nice day! TTFN!

Tuesday, August 05, 2008

Day 898 - It might be 100 today

Greetings, Bloggy Twofers!

Little Miss Savannah is all decked out for the hot weather. What a cute outfit!

It may be 100 here today - that's about 20 degrees of uncomfortable.

It stays up in the 80's all evening here, and this morning it was 75 degrees.

Hot, hot, hot.

I am running late so I'll close with a thought I had yesterday...

Wouldn't it be funny if they graded and advertised pantyhose like they do trash bags or paper towels?

Industrial strength

5 mils thick

Two ply

Absorbent

Reinforced

The gripper (ha!)

Drawstring top

Gotta go, but have a nice Tuesday! TTFN!

Monday, August 04, 2008

Day 897 - No time for Bloggage

Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!

I had work issues over the weekend, so I am starting off Monday morning tired and grumpy. Maybe I got 3 hours of sleep, maybe not.

More bad news - Buddy Joe called me yesterday with a heartbreak - K&K bagels, the best bagels I have had here in Tennessee, has CLOSED! Booo Hooo! Waaaahhh!

Please, a moment of silence to think of how many calories I will NOT eat now that they are gone...

Click on that picture and take a GOOD look - bagels topped with crunchy, melted cheese, pretzel bagels with salt on top, cinammon sugar bagels, and bagels with raisins and blueberries.

BOOO HOOO!

Have a nice Monday, folks! TTFN!

Saturday, August 02, 2008

Day 895 - Forgot to Blog!

Hey, Bloggy Weekenders!

Uh... I forgot to blog this morning, I was looking around on Ebay and got 'distraculated'.

Sorry!

Bye!

Friday, August 01, 2008

Day 894 - Happy Birthday, Brudda in Law!

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!

Hooray, it's Friday! The weekend is here again!

You know what to do - march in a circle, chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

Today is August the 1st, and that is brother in law Steve's birthday!

Happy Birthday, Steve!

We won't ask which one, or suggest a fire extinguisher be nearby when you blow out the candles!

Little Miss 'Spit Happens' looks adorable in that bib, thanks, Aunt Mary Ann!

What is she thinking when she gets her picture taken - do you wonder about that?

Not much time to blog this morning, take care and have a nice weekend!

TTFN!
