Day 740 - It's Feb 29th! Happy Leap-age!

Greetings, Bloggy Fifth February Fridayers!

Well, it's Leap Day. Whoa. Don't celebrate too hard.

I hear that McDonalds is giving away food (a McSkillet Burrito) this morning if you buy a medium or large drink. It will be MOBBED!

Side complaint - have you noticed that drive-thru's seem to be designed to handle the FEWEST customers, and aren't designed for the breakfast and lunch drive thru FLOOD? Grrrr....

At least it's a FRIDAY! Friday, lovely Friday.

You know what to do - Leap in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!' You might get out of breath, but it IS Leap Day so you might as well LIVE IT.

Want to know more about WHY we need a 'Leap-age' now and then?

http://www.timeanddate.com/date/leapyear.html

Hey - speaking of time and date matters - did you realize that Daylight Savings Time is going to begin this year on MARCH the 9th??? It's almost here! Get ready to act like it's summer, even when it's freezing outside.

I'd better start looking at BBQ smokers for the patio this year...

Hey! It's late - gotta go! Have a great Friday and a great Leap Day and a great weekend!

Day 739 - Eeek - a mouse!

Greetings, Bloggy Thirstin' for Thursday-ers!

I forgot to tell this story from Monday...

Remember when I worked all weekend a few weeks ago? I had said I owed one of the DBA's lunch out sometime. Turns out he just likes sub sandwiches from Blimpies, so on Monday I asked what he wanted, and stopped there to get his sandwich. (I got him a cookie too, by the way).

When I left the building and was walking across the parking lot - I saw something scuttle across the parking lot out of the corner of my eye!

I thought 'Eeeeek! A Mouse!' - until I got a better look. Two MEN (not kids) were out in the parking lot playing with a little remote controlled car! I called over to them 'You're lucky I didn't scream just now - I thought that was a mouse!' They laughed, and I shook my head about adults 'playing' in the parking lot at lunchtime.

The guy probably swiped his son's car to play with while the kid was at school...

Changing subjects -

It is a bitter cold 16 degrees at the moment, but we are headed for a warm up to the high 40's. Sunday is supposed to be in the low 60's - now you're talkin'.

Mother Nature sure has mood swings, doesn't she?

Gotta go - have a nice Thursday and TTFN!

Day 738 - Wednesday and SNOW!

Greetings, Bloggy Midweekers!

Most of the schools in the STATE are closed this morning due to a light snow. We have about a half an inch of snow, but evidently there are icy patches underneath it here and there. The news is reporting half a dozen accidents on the highways already. A little more snow is expected before noon.

I think I'd better check my CRV's manual and read about the 4-wheel drive. I think it just happens automatically (automagically), but I'd better check.

Charlie woke up in the middle of the night, said 'that's pretty funny', and went back to sleep. THAT was pretty funny.

Did I tell you about our Christmas tree at work? It's just a small, three foot desktop variety, but we enjoyed having it in our little cube area.

We removed the ornaments after the holidays and changed them to hearts for a Valentine tree. After Valentines day was over, a team member brought in Easter Egg ornaments and we now have an Easter tree.

I guess it's going to be my turn after Easter to do a spring tree or a Memorial Day/Patriotic tree.

Hey! Another team member comes back from maternity leave on Monday. She logged onto her computer from home and had NINE HUNDRED EMAILS to deal with. I hope she just deleted most of them without trying to read them.

Gotta go read that manual! TTFN and have a nice day!

Day 737 - Leaping into Tuesday

Greetings, Bloggy Twofer Tuesdayers!

It is 53 degrees at 5:50am, and temps are going to fall through the 30's this afternoon, with possible rain and snow. Yuck.

Good news - I've made my 'first pass' through my income taxes! I still need to double check everything, copy the numbers over to the 'mail-in copy', get all the paperwork attached, Xerox it, and send it in. Yay! I got to add in my sales taxes on my new CRV this year, wooo hooo!

Changing subjects - I have velvet pants on today - I don't know why I don't wear velvet more often, it's really soft! I have black ones and purple ones and teal ones and gaucho ones, all from the 'GW Boutique' (that means Goodwill). Maybe I'll wear velvet TWICE this week...

Changing subjects again - can someone please get drug ads taken back off the air?

We saw three consecutive drug ads on television the other day! I am so sick of all these 'diseases' (that handily have initials or nicknames so you can remember them) they have invented to get you to go to your doctor and get prescriptions. Brainwashed, brainwashed, brainwashed.

Also - all the side effects sometimes sound worse than the condition! I'm making this up, but one goes something like - 'Relieve your depression!' 'Side effects include weight gain, trouble sleeping, constipation, and nausea.' Good grief! Some of them even say the side effects could be FATAL for some people. Hello!!!

Hey - just noticed the time, so I'd better go.

Don't do drugs.

TTFN!

Day 736 - Happy Leap Week!

Greetings, Monday morning Blah-ghers!

It's Leap Week, and that makes FIVE February Fridays! (FFF for short).

Enjoy the upcoming February 29th, because it won't be here again until 2012 - doesn't THAT seem like a long time away?

So - do people celebrate their Leap Birthdays on Feb 28th or March 1st? Probably February 28th, if I had to guess.

Changing subjects - we went to see 'Jumper' yesterday - it was only so-so. Don't believe the hype that says it's a mixture of the 'Bourne Identity' and the 'Matrix'. Hardly. It was a good idea that they could have done much better, in my humble opinion.

It's more like 'Dumb teenaged boy learns he can teleport, and becomes Dumber with his power'.

Oh well - it's always a good excuse to go eat popcorn.

By the way - is an UNBUTTERED movie theatre popcorn really still loaded with fat and calories? I thought I was mostly OK not having the butter-flavored-artery-clogging stuff on it.

My last comment about popcorn today - remember my blog story about the guy who used to rummage in the trash at the movies for an empty container and go take it up for a free popcorn refill?

Our local newspaper has a 'Ms. Cheap' column, with advice for the frugal folk. Ms. Cheap mentioned in her column this week that someone had sent her THAT POPCORN SUGGESTION, and she thought it was gross! HA! It may be the same guy!!!!

Small world, folks! Happy Leapage!

Day 735 - Sunday, Sunday...

Greetings, Blogregation!

The church sign on my way to work reads 'It's not what you have, it's who you have that counts'.

Charlie and I are about to leave for the health club, then we'll come home and go back out later to a movie if we feel like it. I want to see 'Jumper'.

We finally had our delicious Alaskan King Crab legs dinner last night - and BOY was it good! I made another batch of that broccoli-celery-onion-craisin-raisin salad to go with it.

I may be able to get on later and Blog some more, but if I don't - have a nice Sunday!

Day 734 - Out of the mouths of 5-year-olds

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!

I've decided to go to 10am water aerobics so I could stay in BED a little longer this morning (for a change). No, we didn't party all night if that is what you're thinking.

We met Buddy Joe at the Irish Pub last night and stayed till about 8:30pm (whoa, big night out).

We had dinner - Joe had beer-cheese soup in a bread bowl, Charlie had an Irish sampler dinner with potatoes and cabbage, shepherds pie, beef 'n guinness, and Irish Stew, and I had the open faced prime rib on texas toast with mashed potatoes.

I have vacuum sealed and frozen all the bagels Joe brought to us except for one of the cheese ones (I ate that one last night around 9pm when I got home).

Funny story from the health club yesterday:

After my swim, I usually go in to the hot tub in the women's locker room for a minute to warm up.

I normally dislike it when there are kids in there. (My feeling is they don't belong in a hot tub, it's not a kiddie pool). Yesterday there was a really cute 5 year old and her older sister 'hanging out'.

The five year old decided she was going to interrogate me with questions and comments:

I'm sure there were more, but those are the best ones I remember. It was pretty funny and I finally just had to walk away because I needed to go!

TTFN and watch out for those curious 5-year-olds!

Day 733 - The Year of the Pancake

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!

Yes, it's friday! You know what to do - march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

The house smells extra good this morning. It's a cool and rainy morning, and Charlie is making himself a big breakfast - eggs, turkey sausage, and you guessed it - PANCAKES! YUM!

Charlie had a checkup this week and doesn't have to have blood work done for another 6 months, so he is skipping his cholesterol-reducing-diet plan this morning.

Ok, I stand corrected - he just came in and showed me his peach and oatmeal pancakes, so he did try to make them healthy!

Joe - we'll meet you at the Irish pub at 6pm, I am going to go try to swim first if I can leave work early enough. Of course you don't HAVE to bring bagels unless you WANT to.

I will be SO happy when today is done and the weekend is here. Irish pub tonight, swimming tomorrow (I may do three classes in a row again tomorrow).

Maybe Charlie and I will get around to our postponed Valentine King crab leg dinner! Remember? We were supposed to have it last weekend, but I ended up working the entire weekend.

TTFN and have a great Friday!

Day 732 - Thursday is the day before Friday! Good!

Greetings, Bloggy Thirstin' for Thursday-ers!

I hope everyone has had fun this week celebrating Lyn's and Heather's birthdays! I promise I will have pancakes and chocolate cheesecake on the brain for weeks.

I woke up early this morning (around 4) and started cracking jokes... This is one thought I had.

I've decided to store my brain off-site for disaster recovery...

Computer people should get a laugh out of that!

The news went on and on last night about this big freezing rain storm we were getting, and all the trucks came out and brined the roads, and it never happened, it's way north of us. Hope it stays there. Good job, weather people...

Hey - sorry this is short - I have 60 emails in my inbox and haven't read them in a while.

TTFN and have a nice day!

Day 731 - Happy Birthday to Heather!

Greetings, Bloggy Birthday Celebrants!

Happy Birthday, Heather!

Let's all sing:

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday, dear Heather,
Happy Birthday to you!

If you type it and don't sing it, do you owe a royalty on it?

It's Heather's turn for a birthday, and I found a wonderful Chocolate Cheesecake photo online for her.

Now THAT is awesome looking, and Yes, I ate that missing part. Sorry about that... I never used to like cheesecake as a kid, but it's grown on me (in various places) over the years.

Special birthday week happenings:

There's a full moon (Hi Moon!) which I love to see.

Also, during my drive into work yesterday (which is 30 minutes Lyn!) it was snowing but not sticking, which I also like.

AND... during the snow flurries yesterday morning I spotted for the very first time in 2008 that the daffodils have opened here in the South! Charlie saw some too yesterday, so we have confirmation from two spotters.

It's official - time to take down the Winter wreaths and put up spring ones!

Happy Birthday Heather!

Have a wonderful day, and it's gonna be a great year!

Hey - by the way - it is also the second anniversary of my layoff, meaning birthday #2 for the blog! Wow! Time flies!

Day 730 - In between Birthdays

Greetings, Bloggy TwoFers!

We have a twofer this week - Lyn's birthday Sunday and Heather's birthday tomorrow. Happy Birthday Eve, Heather!

Lyn - if you still want birthday pancakes, why not try Cracker Barrel?

Yes, there will be a wait there too, but maybe you can go at an off time like 2 in the afternoon or something. They do have various kinds of pancakes all the time (I like their pecan pancakes) and real maple syrup for them, and they are open 7 days a week all day as far as I know.

YUM-O!

I've swapped email with buddy Joe for 'dinner out and bagel swap'. More YUM-O.

Yesterday was NOT a good day - I don't want to talk about it, except to hope that today will be an improvement.

TTFN and Let's Hear it for Pancake-age! ;-)

Day 729 - Is it only MONDAY?

Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-ghers!

I'm not going to blog for very long - I am still pretty bleary and have a new issue this morning to deal with.

So - what's new with you?

Lyn - how was your birthday? I just cleaned out a drawer and found some funny birthday cards - now I need some more birthday people to send them to!

Tax return update - I haven't done them yet.

Joe - I have been eating one of 'your' K&K bagels a day during my stressful weekend. They are SOOOOO wonderful, I am going to have to learn how to drive there myself and restock my bagel-age supply. I think I have 4 left. The 'pretzel bagel' and the cheese topped bagels are my favorites so far.

Have a nice Monday, everyone! TTFN!

Sunday, February 17, 2008

Day 728 - Happy Birthday to Lyn!

Greetings, Blogregation!

Happy Birthday to Lyn today! I hope my card got there on time, and I hope it's a special day for you!

I would like to post a picture and all that good stuff, but I am leaving for work. We have a lot more work to do before Monday before things are going to be right.

Have a nice Sunday! TTFN!

Day 727 - No time for bloggage

Hi gang,

I worked last night until midnight, and have been working from home all day today. (issues from a server swap last night).

No time to blog - but HI and BYE and Happy Birthday tomorrow to Lyn!!!

Day 726 - Valentines plus one = Friday!

Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers! Friday is here!

A big post-Valentines Hug to Aunt Nancy, and I hope everyone had a really PHAT Valentines day yesterday.

Lyn - no, I have never heard anyone use the word PHAT in normal conversation. Evan's friend Jason used to have a jacket (the jacket was as big as he was) that said it was a 'triple fat goose', but it wasn't Phat. When Charlie watches baseball - he'll say 'That was a really FAT pitch', but not a PHAT pitch.

Moving on....

You know what to do - March in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

If you're really lucky and having a foame' latte' with sugar free vanilla syrup like I am, you can march around chanting 'Foa-me' Lat-te! Foa-me' Lat-te!'

While I was in training class, I'd stop at Starbucks and order a Venti Skinny Vanilla Latte' each morning. The guy at the window nicknamed it a 'Tall Skinilla', which I thought was funny. I invented other names like 'SkiMocha' and 'Skinnamon' for the other flavors.

I think I'll be working late tonight with my manager for a server swap (this was postponed a few weeks ago if you recall), but I don't even care because the weekend is here!

I'll have water aerobics tomorrow morning, then Charlie and I will have our Valentines dinner at home Saturday night. We could have gone out, but I wanted to have dinner at home and avoid the crowd.

The menu is Surf and Turf - crab legs and steak! I went to Sams Club yesterday after work to get the Alaskan King crab, and I can't wait!

TTFN, Have a nice Friday and a nice weekend!

Day 725 - Happy Valentines Day!

Greetings, Bloggy Lovey Dovies!

Happy Valentines Day!

I got stuck in traffic last night for over an hour coming home due to an accident further south.

The interstate was closed, and they were funneling the traffic off an exit (without setting up detour signs or telling anyone how to get back to the interstate, by the way).

When I got home, Charlie had a lovely collection of flowers in a clear vase waiting for me on the kitchen table.

They smell SOOOO good! In the winter, you rarely get to smell fresh flowers!

Quote of the day:
If music be the food of love, play on.-- Shakespeare

Remember when we were kids, we would fill out those little paper valentines to pass out in class that had really lame sayings on them like 'Here's to you, Valentine!' or 'You're Terrific, Valentine!'

I went to a Children's website just now that has Valentines sayings. I am not believing this one:
It says 'You're PHAT, Valentine!'

For us oldies out there, and I had to go look this up, Phat means 'excellent or first-rate', like a Phat rapper.... Who would have known?

TTFN and Happy Valentines Day!

Day 724 - Midweek and Midlife

Greetings, Bloggy Middlers!

It's in the 20's and we have some black ice around this morning, most of the schools are closed.

They say the highways are pretty good, so I am going to go to class this morning as usual and hope it's not too icy. Today is my last day of class, by the way.

Charlie just walked out to the mailbox, and said our road is mostly dry. Thanks, Charlie!

Changing subjects - I have some serious questions this morning that have been on my mind...

What is it that makes you suddenly forget how to CHEW properly no matter how old you are, and you bite the inside of your cheek or your tongue?

And once you've done that, why do you keep biting it over again?

And for that matter, what is it that makes you think that you can pop something molten-lava hot in your mouth and not suffer for it?

Why IS that?

Changing subjects again -

I forgot to tell a story about going to see 'National Treasure' on Sunday.

We bought a large popcorn before the movie started, and took turns holding it out in the hall while we went to the restrooms.

I went to the restroom first.

When I returned, Charlie and another guy were standing in the hall, waiting. I said teasingly 'Get out of that popcorn!'

The OTHER guy, who was holding two drinks, said 'You weren't even talking to ME but I felt guilty!'

That made everyone laugh - and he told me this story.

He used to go to the movies with his younger brother. This younger brother used to rummage through the trash to find an empty popcorn bag, and take it up to the desk to get his free popcorn refill! He remarked 'That's pretty sad, but my brother is frugal'.

Ha! Have a nice Wednesday! TTFN!

Day 723 - Greek for lunch, Mexican for dinner

Greetings, Bloggy Twofers!

Class went fine - we have 12 or 13 students, 7 are from our company. My commute there and back went fine as well, thank you for asking. I have had this particular instructor before, and he is a good one.

Yes, I got a skinny latte' at Starbucks before class, and five of us went out for lunch at the Greek place we found during my prior training class.

We ALSO went out for dinner, but I did have a salad (with gyro meat) for lunch.

We had a nice dinner out at a relatively new Mexican restaurant last night with TY and SY. Charlie and I shared the 'pulled pork (puerco) fajitas for two' dinner, which was enormous.

After consuming several baskets of tortilla chips and salsa, our dinner arrived...

We had a HUGE, smoking skillet of the pork with grilled peppers, onions and tomatoes, and four packages (containing 3 each) of soft flour tortillas to wrap them in.

Just as we were tucking into it they brought two more big plates with cheese-topped refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, and 'salad stuff' on them. There was hardly room on the table. We really could have split one order, to be honest, but we hadn't been there before and didn't know!

Our bill was $22 - really reasonable for two people.

I guess I'd better get ready to go, TTFN and have a nice Tuesday! I plan to go to water aerobics after class tonight if traffic allows.

Monday, February 11, 2008

Day 722 - Monday morning chuckles!

Greetings, Bloggy Commuters!

I have another training class today through Wednesday this week. More Starbucks skinny latte's in the morning and going out for lunch (probably Greek food) every day.

Here are a few true funnies to brighten your Monday...

I phoned Charlie the other morning on my way to work.

He kept saying 'I can hardly hear you - did you press something on your phone? Your voice sounds muffled!' He told me this morning that he was shaving when I called, and when he went to hang up the phone the ear holes were full of shaving cream...

Charlie went to the grocery store with me yesterday... Mistake!

Every few items (honey, trail mix, clementines to name a few) he'd say 'Well I had no idea how much those cost - don't buy that for me anymore!' Of course I bought them anyway. We can just be thankful we aren't a household of six - what would our grocery bill be?

You know that the current clothing designs support visible cleavage... A little boy asked a former coworker of mine -'Why do you have a crack in your chest?' HA! Hysterical!

That's all for now folks! Have a great Monday!

Sunday, February 10, 2008

Day 721 - Sunday already!

Greetings, Blogregation!

The weekend is flying by, just like the week does! Whaddya know about that?

I did it. I took all three morning water classes yesterday. Thankfully working hard in water does not hurt your joints the way that exercise out of the water does.

I took 8am water aerobics, 9am strength training, and 10am water aerobics. My arms and shoulders are a little sore if I raise my arms, but not bad.

By the way - I must have been burned out at the end of three hours, I left my swim suit in the shower stall! I hope someone turned it in to Lost and Found, Charlie and I are going over there shortly.

I talked to a girl yesterday who came to water aerobics for the first time. She is a new member, and also paid for a 10 week program called 'Fit Camp' at the gym. I don't have the exact details, but the program is where professional trainers work you hard 3 nights a week like boot camp. The day after her first session, she had to call in sick because she couldn't move.

I am NOT interested, I wouldn't do something like that until I was at some level of fitness where I wouldn't be incapacitated! But non-exercisers often use it as a kick start program to force them to increase their level of fitness. Not me, thank you very much.

Changing subjects:

Charlie and I might finally go see 'National Treasure' this afternoon.

Speaking of movies - if you like action/crime drama movies, we saw '16 blocks' recently on cable. This is a Bruce Willis movie where he plays a burned-out detective who has to get his act together in a hurry while escorting a witness to the courthouse. It was entertaining and has a positive message despite all the violence in it! Ha!

Have a nice Sunday, whatever you do! TTFN!

Saturday, February 09, 2008

Day 720 - Valentine Alternatives?

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!

Hey - here is a fine example of marketing...

I pass a tire store on my way to the highway going home. They have a big, marquee 'alphabet' sign out front that displays their current specials.

Their current posting:

'Flowers and candy getting old?
How about new brakes or a front-end alignment?'

Charlie told me a story of his ex-father-in-law who put new tires on HIS car and told his wife they were HER Christmas present.

As someone who received a new coffee maker for Christmas from my ex back in the days when I didn't drink coffee, I could relate.

Changing subjects...

I am doing a double at the health club this morning. I am taking my usual water aerobics at 8am, then taking a new class called 'water strength training' immediately afterwards.

If I make it through all that without falling apart, there is also a 10am water aerobics class, but I really don't think I will do all three - that sounds a bit excessive.

TTFN and have a great Saturday!

Friday, February 08, 2008

Day 719 - Friday already!

Greetings, Bloggy TGIF-ers!

You know what to do, folks, march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'

Those who have asked about the 'Miracle Baby' who was tossed by a tornado, here is the story from the local news website:

http://www.newschannel5.com/Global/story.asp?S=7839610

The baby, Kyson will turn 1 in just a few days, and will live with his maternal grandparents.

No, we do not have a storm cellar - this area is covered with limestone and they normally have to blast or build on a hillside if someone wants a basement.

We have an interior guest bathroom that has no windows. This would be the 'storm room' in case of emergency.

Changing subjects:

Is it just me, or has this week flown by?

Today is my last day at work until next Thursday! I'll be at another training event Monday-Wednesday of next week, lucky me.

That means I need to prepare and dole out work today to the team for the next several days, and try to catch up on some things like my timesheet accounting.

Changing subjects:

I have NOT done my taxes yet - I haven't had time! Maybe on Sunday.

Speaking of Sunday:

There's a new a church sign on my commute to work. It reads 'Love is an endless cycle of forgiveness'. That sounds like a TEST of love to me!

TTFN! Have a great Friday and a great weekend!

Day 718 - Back on the blog

Greetings, Bloggy Storm-Chasers!

As Charlie mentioned in the comments, we didn't have any power yesterday morning so there was no bloggage yesterday.

Our power came back on just as I was backing out of the garage to leave for work (after I had showered and dressed by flashlight and missed my foame' latte' and my breakfast)! We lost power again for several hours yesterday afternoon, but I think we're back in business today.

We spent all Tuesday evening into the wee hours of Wednesday morning (till we lost power) watching the radar to see if a tornado was headed our way. Our whole county was under a tornado warning most of the night, so conditions were ripe but thankfully we did not have one touch down near us.

One humorous tidbit about Tuesday evening - I'd been to water aerobics, and was driving home around 7:30pm. It was dark, with lightning flashes, no rain, and very windy. Charlie had told me via cell phone to hurry home because the storms were getting near.

As I was driving along the highway, all of a sudden there was a lot of grass debris in the air, flying around and hitting my car.

I thought - 'Holy Smokes, we're already getting dangerous winds, I'd better get home!' No, dumb-butt, turns out that I was behind a hay truck and lots of hay bits were blowing back from it onto ME. I passed the hay truck, but I smiled when I did it and got home with no issues.

When I drove to work yesterday, there was one spot nearby where a tree had been across the road, and I've been wondering if that is why we lost power.

Anyway - we are very thankful that all WE lost was electricity - the storms were terrible and left death and destruction behind them.

A couple of stories that I heard on the news:

Two parents are in the hospital after being lifted and thrown by a tornado. The wife has a broken back, the husband has a broken pelvis. Their 2 year old was unharmed.

Rescue workers found an 11 month old baby alone in the middle of a field yesterday morning. His mother did not survive, but he is just fine.

Have a safe day and TTFN!

Day 716 - Let's hear it for Fat and Super!

Greetings, Bloggy Twofers!

Monday is over, and it wasn't a bad Monday for a change. Some emergencies, but manageable ones. No, don't even think I've caught up, I'm just not buried alive. ;-)

It's Fat Tuesday (Mardis Gras) and Super Tuesday (Mardis Vote?) - there's your perfect twosome of the day. You can go vote, then go drink, or vice-versa!

Fat Tuesday is named for the feasting before the 40 days of Lent fasting begins. I had enough feasting during the Super Bowl, so I will abstain, thank you very much. Here is a link about Fat Tuesday and Mardis Gras if you are interested.

http://www.infoplease.com/spot/mardigras1.html

Changing subjects...

A lady at work came in late yesterday.

As she was leaving for daycare and then work, her five year old said 'I need to go potty', and proceeded to hang out in the bathroom for the next 25 minutes.

When they finally did leave and arrived at daycare, her son said 'I can't go in'. She said 'Why can't you go in?' He explained 'I have gum on my hands'.

He had 'webbed out' a piece of chewed gum and it was stuck all over his hands. More time spent picking it off his hands.

His comment 'Don't tell my teacher, Mom'.

My comment - he must have also had Monday morning blahs at five years old! Sounds like a series of excellent stall tactics.

Weather alert:

It's supposed to be 75 degrees this afternoon with strong storms coming through when the temperature drops.

TTFN and have a nice Tuesday!

Monday, February 04, 2008

Day 715 - I'm a jinx and I never knew it...

Greetings, Monday morning Blah-ghers!

Well, I blew the Patriots chances at a Super Bowl win and a sweep of the entire season when I talked about Eli on the blog. It must have been me, I can't imagine why else they would have lost!

All kidding aside - even though the Pats lost, the Super Bowl game itself was just excellent, very fun to watch, and a nail biter for sure at the end! I had high hopes that the Patriots would tie things up and go into overtime for the win.

Hey - the Giants played better yesterday, and they were the winners. End of story.

We had a nice evening watching the Super Bowl with TY and SY, and the food was yummy! We had chips and dips, a sausage and cheese tray, lots of various vegetables and dip, and prime rib/french dip sandwiches with broccoli salad and cole slaw.

Another great thing about yesterday besides FOOD - my daughter and I got our webcams going at the same time and we could have a 'typed' conversation while we were looking at each other and waving!

It was AWESOME! That was the best birthday present ever for me!

Folks - if you have family far away - get some webcams going so you can SEE each other. They aren't even expensive, and the end result IS PRICELESS!

Hey - it's after six - gotta go!

Don't forget - Survivor starts on Thursday (I think)!!! Nancy - set your VCR!

Day 714 - Happy Super Bowl!

Greetings, Blogregation!

It's Superbowl Sunday, and I've had a busy morning already. Most people here are pulling for the Giants because there's a MANNING involved. I hope the Patriots win easily.

After all, Tom Brady compared to Eli Manning? Come on! It's like Superman playing against Jimmy Olsen. Yes, I might live to regret that statement.

As heard at work - 'Tom Brady is just too perfect. He can't be REAL'.

Eli - would you PLEASE close your mouth when you are on camera - gaping like a fool is not charming.

I just made a batch of homemade salsa (10 pints) - some to eat, some to freeze, we're already running the dishwasher, and I just put in a wash.

Still to go - housecleaning, salad making, housecleaning, showers, more housecleaning, etc. I didn't go swim this morning because I figured I'd get all the exercise I need this morning.

Charlie's cold is improving but he still isn't well enough to go to the gym. His sense of humor is back with a vengeance.

True story - I asked him to scratch my back this morning.

I said 'Bra line', indicating where I needed him to scratch. His hand immediately went to my WAIST, with an evil giggle!

Very funny, bud-ro, but that is how I know he is feeling better. ;-)

Have a great Superbowl Sunday, everybody! TTFN!

Day 713 - Groundhog Day!

Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!

My days are mixed up - I am very happy it's Saturday, but it doesn't FEEL like Saturday to me.

Happy Birthday to Kerry D. today - Groundhog day makes it easy to remember his birthday.

YES, I passed my exam yesterday - thank heavens, and so did my co-worker. If you have to retake the test, the passing grade is higher, and it costs $200 per retake!

I thought it was pretty hard, with questions like 'Which of the following are true statements', and then you had to choose the right combination of correct answers.

At least one person in the class did not pass - I heard her saying to her coworker that she hadn't expected to be able to pass it the first time around, but I am sure she didn't enjoy failing it!

I think another one didn't pass either - I saw him turn in his exam and leave, and he didn't come back to see if he passed or not. That makes me think he knew he didn't pass.

Changing subjects to FOOD...

I'll be shopping for Super Bowl food this afternoon after water aerobics - YUM-O!

I am still not 100% sure of the menu - but writing it on the blog will help me decide.

I am definitely serving prime rib and au jus with various breads to pile it on, accompanied by horseradish sauce and grainy mustard. Can't wait for that! I'm picking up a veggie tray for sure, and leaning toward making deviled eggs, crackers and cheese, and chips with guacamole and homemade salsa.

I would like to get some chicken wings, but they are awfully fattening... jury's still out on those...

Nancy - your cajun feast at work sounded AWESOME. I was especially interested in the cajun eggplant! I would love to have tried it - did you?

Well, I need to make my grocery list and get a move-on! TTFN and Go Patriots!

Day 712 - No time for bloggage

Hi, February Folks!

I have my exam this morning and need to go study, but I have a problem with our End of Month stuff that is running so I need to get in touch with my manager.

That means no blog.

TTFN!
