Day 1682 - Random Acts of Bloggage
Greetings, Bloggy Friday Eves and Adams -
Here's Miss Savi and the bumble bee pillow that Auntie Cheryl and I got for her. She's looking at me like 'She so crazy!'
Hey - it's the last day of September! Time to pay bills if you haven't done it already. I can look forward to changing my calendars tomorrow.
Charlie discovered that Bass Pro Shops, which had closed due to the flood, has reopened. It is the ONLY store at the Opry Mills mall complex that is open.
Charlie drove down and checked it out today. They don't have all their stock in yet, but he managed to find some items to buy.
Changing subjects - with the cold snap, I find myself thinking about CHRISTMAS already.
Did I tell you that in AUGUST I started getting renewal notices for magazines that don't expire until New Years? Sheesh!
So long September, Hello October!

Day 1681 - Midweek and Midlife
Greetings, Bloggy Middlers -
Here's a very sweet picture of Miss Savi at the beach. Notice how hard the wind was blowing.
Remember what summer was like??
We are having a real cold snap!
Temps in the 40's overnight (brrr!), but going all the way up to the high 70's during the day.
I can finally sleep at night without the fan blowing on me. Maybe the cool air will keep my hot flashes below flash point. (That was a midlife reference for sure.)
It is DARK, DARK, DARK when I get home most nights now. Boo hoo! I do love the fall and fall weather- but I would like more light. There is something sad about fall, isn't there?
Don't forget - Survivor tonight! Let's see what new messes they get themselves into.

Day 1680 - YES! It's Tuesday!
Greetings, Bloggy YES-Men and Women!
Yes! Since yesterday's blog was full of negatives, I'm gonna YES myself silly.
Yes! Monday is OVER and DONE with.
Yes! We had the most wonderful meal last night at the Fujiyama Japanese restaurant. I had the seafood tempura - outrageously good.
Yes! I looked up the link to their website:
http://www.myabcspace.com/fujiyama/
YES! This is what a capital YES looks like.
YES! I could think up more but I need to do laundry instead.
YES! More bloggage tomorrow! TTFN!

Day 1679 - Moanday, Moanday....
Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!
NO - I am not a new Auntie - I have a new first cousin once removed. Congratulations to Aunt Nancy on her very first Grandchild!
NO - it's NOT the weekend anymore, and it's time to go back to work.
NO - Cheryl isn't here, she returned home today. Boo Hoo!
NO - I don't want any sympathy.
NO - I haven't bought Halloween cards yet and Halloween is only a month away!
NO - NO - NO.
No.
I mean it. NO.

Day 1678 - Sunday ALREADY? Noooo!!!!
Greetings, Blogregation!
Here's a cute picture of Savi and Jen in the corn. I stole it from Facebook.
Speaking of corn - I saw ads for a corn maze recently. A corn maze is a trail made in the corn, and you have to figure out how to get OUT of the cornfield. It usually takes an hour or two to do that.
Guess what? They are doing corn mazes now with GPS coordinates. The ad was to bring your GPS and they will give you the coordinates for where you are supposed to end up! I think that is totally modern and cool.
Cheryl and I had a fun day yesterday - two full hours of water aerobics, lunch out, and we walked around the TACA craft fair and saw all the gorgeous pottery, glass, jewelry, etc.
Guess what? For the first time EVER - neither of us bought a single thing! We just don't NEED any art or pottery or glass or .... fill in the blank ... right now.
Plus, most things were very expensive, very breakable, or very big! I did waver regarding a new lazy susan for the dining room table, but I'll bet I can find one for less than $75 plus tax!
TTFN and have a great Sunday!

Day 1677 - Abs first, Arts Later
Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!
Here's Miss Savi and a toy kitty she enjoys playing with at my sister and brother-in-laws house.
Cheryl and I are going to have a busy day today, weather permitting.
Off to the health club in the morning for a workout, then we'll have some lunch.
After lunch, we're off again to the TACA craft fair in downtown Nashville at Centennial Park, right next to the Parthenon. It is a wonderful craft fair, and many years ago they put my picture in the paper, looking at glass or papier mache' fish. Does anyone remember that?
Have fun today - whatever YOU'RE doing! TTFN!
Friday, September 24, 2010
Day 1676 - Friday, Hooray!
Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers -
It's Friday, Hooray!
Follow Savannah's lead and march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'
Auntie Cheryl (Savi's aunt) is coming to visit for the weekend - Hooray!
We have some adventures planned...
Shopping, definitely. Probably a movie at some point. Definitely eating out at 'Tossed', our favorite salad place. Definitely attending the fall TACA craft fair downtown. Sounds fun, right?
Check out this link:

Have a great Friday and a great weekend! TTFN!

Day 1675 - Maters, Maters, Who Got the Maters?
Greetings, Bloggy Tomato Tasters!
Charlie told me an interesting tale about the breakfast adventure he and TY had yesterday.
They are regulars at a restaurant in Lynchburg, TN, where they go for breakfast before they go fishing.
They had a new waitress yesterday, so they needed a little extra explanation regarding what they wanted to drink, and their breakfast order.
TY asked if they had any sliced tomato available to have with the breakfast. The waitress indicated that 'Granny was cuttin' 'em up now', which meant 'yes'.
No tomatoes arrived, and TY mentioned this to the waitress. The waitress acted surprised and said 'I put a plate of 'em over there' - and pointed to another table full of customers.
TY said 'Well, am I supposed to go over there and get 'em?' The waitress turned, went to the other table, collected the plate of tomatoes, held them while TY put a few on his plate, then put the plate of tomatoes back on the other table.
I just don't know what to say, so I won't say anything. Comment if you want to!

Day 1674 - It's Fall, Y'all!
Greetings, Bloggy Leaf Watchers -
Check out these 'fall leaves' tattoos! Pretty cool, eh?
Yes, that's right - Fall has arrived!
Of course, it was 98 degrees yesterday, but who's counting THAT?
Well, we had some internet connectivity issues Monday night and Tuesday morning, so I missed a blog yesterday. Sorry about that!
And how did it get fixed?
Charlie turned everything off (cable modem, router, computer) and just let them sit for awhile. Then he turned everything back on, and it worked again.
How's THAT for computer repair?
Anyway - one comment regarding Sunday and Monday football that I was going to mention on yesterdays blog...
If I hear one more advertisement about 'Old Spice, the Official Deodorant of the NFL', I'm gonna barf. Since WHEN is deodorant official?
TTFN and have a nice Wednesday!

Day 1672 - Pizza and Promotions
Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!
Charlie and I were discussing pizza 'Back in the Day' yesterday.
My memories were of pooling my money with Leslie and Jeannie and Kathy to scrounge up $2 (yes, $2!) for an occasional cheese pizza at Arts Pizza in Providence, RI on the East Side. I loved that place.
Pepperoni cost more, so we usually got just cheese.
We would be salivating by the time the pizza came out of the oven. It was immediately delivered to our table on an aluminum platter with a pile of paper plates under it (this technique also allowed the paper plates to be used as potholders). The cheese was molten lava hot, with orange oil dripping onto the napkins and paper plates. I can still remember the smell and taste of it.
If you weren't careful, and the pizza was too hot, you would either burn the roof of your mouth (making the rest of the experience less than wonderful), or everything could slide right off the pizza onto your plate.
Charlie remembers having pizza when he was in college. He also pooled money with his roommates to get a pizza from 'Mr. Gatti's', and someone would go get it while another roommate went on the hunt for beer.
Are you hungry yet?? I sure am...
TTFN and have a great week!

Day 1671 - Sunday, Sunday!
Greetings, Blogregation -
I went WAY back in my pictures folders to find this picture of Uncle Evan with newborn Savannah.
Aunt Nancy - is there any progress report on your upcoming grandchild?
Do they have a name picked out yet? Inquiring blog readers want to know!
I had a really strange dream Friday night that someone submitted a letter to the editor of the Lewiston, Maine paper, using my name instead of their own. The paper printed it. So - WHY did I dream that dream? It has no relevance to anything I am currently involved in. I just don't get it...
I'm going to keep this super short - like Evans hair!
Have a nice Sunday, everyone, and TTFN!

Day 1670 - Saturday Randomizing...
Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!
Isn't Savi the most adorable granddaughter in the world?
Yep, I think she is...
She was drinking some of Auntie Cheryl's Starbucks Tazo Iced Tea.
I have a couple 'random' items to tell.
First - gas prices went up FIFTEEN CENTS a gallon this week for regular gas.
That is annoying. I can understand a penny here or a penny there - but fifteen cents? That is ridiculous.
And speaking of ridiculous - I thought I'd seen every example of crazy driving there was... until today.
Traffic (even at 7pm when I was driving home) came to a standstill on the highway when I returned home last night. I patiently sat there in the now-stopped high speed lane.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear?
Some yahoo driver in a red SUV was driving in the HIGH SPEED BREAKDOWN LANE and passing as many cars as he/she could, then cut back into the flow of traffic.
I couldn't believe it... and I wish I had seen their license plate to rat them out.
TTFN and have a nice Saturday!

Day 1669 - What? Friday already?
Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers!
It's Friday, Hooray!
You know what to do - march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'
Here's Miss Savi - busy at work with her farm stickers. I purchased the sticker books at Cracker Barrel, by the way - they have great ones.
By the way - she has a very effective way of getting the stickers OFF the paper. She squashes the whole sheet of stickers till the edges pop up, then peels them off! Is that a brilliant girl, or what?
Well, I'll make this short - have a wonderful weekend everyone. Enjoy the last days of summer - just one more week till Autumn is here!
Thursday, September 16, 2010
Day 1668 - I got no class...
Greetings, Bloggy Students!
I haven't mentioned my programming class lately - have I? No? Why not?
That's because there hasn't BEEN any class in WEEKS.
We are off the hook until October, actually. Boo Hoo! (yeah, right)
Class has been postponed due to some upcoming delivery due dates for important projects.
Changing subjects to the upcoming change of the seasons - even though it was 92 degrees here yesterday afternoon.
Lots of people feel that 'the fall of the year' is the best of the seasons. I really like Fall, except for the fact that it is followed by WINTER. I love the beauty of fall leaves, and the pumpkins, and Halloween and Thanksgiving! Bring it ON!
I've seen some birds start massing together, and yesterday I saw the typical 'V' formation of a flock of geese heading... somewhere...
Hey Aunt Nancy, soon to be Grandma Nancy! Any updates for us???
Wednesday, September 15, 2010
Day 1667 - Midweek and Midlife and Mid-Month!
Greetings, Bloggy Middlers -
Don't you just LOVE this mailbox? Talk about a natural 'stand' for it!
So... I saw a very interesting thing yesterday.
I was behind a very ratty old car on the way to work yeserday.
The paint was peeling off, the model name was past recognition, the windshield was cracked. I could go on and on.
But what really caught my eye was the owners neat and tidy suit coat, on a hanger, hanging inside the car! Tell me - why wouldn't the guy fix up that old piece of crap vehicle to make it worthy of his suit jacket?
Your guess is as good as mine. TTFN and have a nice Wednesday!
Tuesday, September 14, 2010
Day 1666 - Twofer Tuesday!
Greetings, Bloggy Twofers-
Is this a 'two-fer' picture, or what? This is my son, by the way- clowning around as usual for the camera.
He has TWO arms up, and TWO fingers up on each hand... Twofers right? Peace, man... Peace...
Speaking of peace - I mean, piece - I am enjoying my second (read that as TWO) piece of spanakopita this evening. Spanakopita is spinach pie, by the way.
I have been on such a spinach kick lately - spinach pizza, spinach pie, creamed spinach over pasta, spinach, spinach, spinach...
One more spinach story...
I went to the coffee station at work yesterday to get a cup of coffee. A guy was wringing out the appetizingly green water from a plastic bag that he had cooked some spinach in for breakfast! He appeared to be a health nut. Cooking the spinach in a plastic baggie was new to me, hope he didn't get contaminated by the plastic.
One more spinach story...
My grandfather's favorite breakfast was soft boiled eggs and spinach from a CAN. I won't eat spinach from a can. Not no way, not no how. Won't do it.
Gotta go! TTFN and have a great Twofer Tuesday!

Day 1665 - Monday, Monday...
Greetings, Moanday Morning Blah-gers!
Here's a photo of spectators taking pictures of the waves caused by Hurricane Earl.
No - I don't know anyone in this photo, I was just taking a photo of THEM taking a photo.
So - changing subjects - I don't like what the movie theaters are charging to see a 3D movie.
Charlie and I went to a matinee yesterday - A MATINEE, and the admission for the 2 of us was $22.50 for a 3D movie - Resident Evil #4.
And NO - the movie theatre didn't offer a 2D showing for less money, either. I would have enjoyed the movie nearly as much without the 3D effects, to be honest.
Don't forget - Survivor starts up again this week, on WEDNESDAY nights.
TTFN and have a nice Monday!

Day 1664 - No time for bloggage
Greetings, Blogregation -
No time for bloggage today, sorry!
Charlie and I are going out walking (the indoor pool is closed at the Health Club, and the outdoor pool is cold).
This afternoon we're going to catch a movie.
That's it! Catcha tomorrow - TTFN!

Day 1663 - The Weekend is HERE!
Greetings, Bloggy Restful Weekenders!
Time for a little nappage... Are you going to relax this weekend?
I want to go see the new 'Resident Evil 3D' movie that just came out. (yes, it's a zombie movie)
We'll probably see it on Sunday.
Hey! I forgot to tell you yesterday that Savannah is starting to say the alphabet!
She recited it (mostly correctly) on the phone to me earlier this week, and BOY did it sound cute.
Question - How did it happen that Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, AND the alphabet song, AND baa baa black sheep ALL use the same tune, and what tune IS it?
Well - I just had to look it up - you can find anything on the internet...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ah!_vous_dirai-je%2C_Maman
TTFN and have a great Saturday!

Day 1662 - Hey! It's Friday, Hooray!
Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers!
Wow - can you believe it? It's Friday!
Here's yet another adorable photo of Miss Savannah, playing with my brush.
Since it is Friday - you know what to do - march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'
Last Friday is when Hurricane Earl blew through - do you remember?
Here's a few news updates...
On Wednesday, I drove to work just half an hour early and it was STILL DARK! Yuck! I want the summertime long days all year 'round!
The indoor pool at the health club is being repainted, so it is either swim outside or don't swim. Tuesday the water temp in the outdoor pool was 74 degrees. Yesterday, the water temperature in the outdoor pool was 73 degrees AND it was drizzling. Joy of joys!
You know the 'horses who stand in the corner'? Remember that another matched pair of horses joined them recently? Well, yet ANOTHER (also matching) pair of horses have joined them. All three 'sets' of horses had claimed their own spots, and were standing side by side as I drove by.
I'd say that's enough news for now. TTFN and have a great weekend!
Thursday, September 09, 2010
Day 1661 - Knit one, blog two...
Greetings, Bloggy Readers -
Here's a great photo of Savannah, running into a cloud of bubbles.
Kids love bubbles, don't they?
The week is flying by, it's Thursday already.
Funny how that happens, week after week... Ah! I have another Thursday item to report.
Before I forget (again) - Aunt Nancy - Survivor starts up in a week, and it will be on Wednesday nights, not Thursday!
That's all I feel like writing today - TTFN and have a nice Thursday!

Day 1660 - Midweek and Midlife
Greetings, Bloggy Middlers!
Here's a darling photo from Labor Day weekend.
Savannah is playing with a toy kitty that was MY sisters toy at an early age. YES, you read that right. That toy is an antique.
I have a funny to tell from Monday. On Monday, I saw two political signs, fairly close together, on the same road.
One was for Ty COBB.
One was for Sheila BUTT.
Now, when you put COBB and BUTT together in the same thought - you just HAVE to giggle about it! I could say SOOO many things, but I won't.
I also have a confession. Here goes....
I got some 'free' return address labels from a charity. They hope I will send a donation to them in exchange for the labels. I get several different sets of labels a year from different charities, and I don't usually donate to those charities.
YES, I donate plenty - but not to the label places. But do I use the labels? Yep, if I didn't use them it would be wasteful, wouldn't it?
Do you do that???
TTFN and have a nice Wednesday!
Tuesday, September 07, 2010
Day 1659 - Back in Tennessee, and Back to Work!
Greetings, Twofer Tuesdayers -
It's back to work today for everyone who got yesterday off, and everyone (like me) returning from vacation.
Hey! I just realized it will be a short week this week. Hooray!
Here's a great picture of Savi taken by Auntie Cheryl. Savi and I were playing hide and seek at the beach, using my sarong as a parachute... (I guess that's a better word than 'tent')
I have over FOUR HUNDRED photos from my trip to sort through, discard, crop, remove red eye, etc.
I did get caught up on my laundry, but the photos are going to take a while.
TTFN and have a great Tuesday!

Day 1657 - The last day of vacation in RI
Greetings, Blogregation!
Happy Birthday to my nephew, Will today!
Well - today is my last day of fun in the sun with Savannah and the rest of the family. (boo hoo!)
We are going to go back to the beach today so I can soak up as much sand and sun as possible next to the ocean.
Time to go back home tonight and recuperate before WORK begins on Tuesday. I got a good boarding pass number, if that's any consolation.
We had a fabulous time at Nordic Lodge yesterday - though I have never seen it so empty! There were lots of empty tables, I wonder if Hurricane Earl scared everyone away?
Here is a small list of some of the items I ate. I might have forgotten some!
Lobster
Alaskan King Crab
Shrimp
Scallops
Baked Stuffed Shrimp
Stuffed Mushrooms
Filet Mignon
Prime Rib
Rice Pilaf
Garlic Bread
Godiva Chocolate cups filled with Chocolate Mousse
Chocolate covered strawberries
Tapioca pudding
Fresh raspberries and blackberries
Cream puffs
We came home to my sisters, took a walk, and got out the ice cream... Danger, Danger, Will Robinson! I might overload the plane tomorrow night.
TTFN and have a great Sunday!
Saturday, September 04, 2010
Day 1656 - Hurricane? Where's the Hurricane?
Greetings, Bloggy Saturday Celebrants!
Just look at this darling photo of Savannah, complete with a faint hint of chocolate mustache, courtesy of Wrights Dairy Farm Chocolate Milk.
A little chocolate just adds to the cuteness.
The local news, and the Weather Channel were broadcasting in full force yesterday, though with very little to talk about. We were going to get some rain. Yep. Rain.
Nordic Lodge - my very favorite pig out spot, was CLOSED yesterday due to the storm! Jeepers!
Today is OUR day to go to the Nordic Lodge, so I hope that all is well and they will be dishing up lots of yummy lobsters for us this afternoon.
Boo Hoo! I have to print my boarding pass tonight for my return trip home Sunday night! Nooo!!! Not already!!!!
Gotta go! TTFN and have a great Saturday!
Friday, September 03, 2010
Day 1655 - Hurricane Earl - Lion or Lamb?
Greetings, Bloggy Hurricane Trackers!
First - here is a cute photo of our little gift from Mother Nature - Savannah! We had SUCH a great day yesterday.
Second - it's Friday, Hooray! March in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Hur-ri-cane! Fri-day! Hur-ri-cane!'
Sooooo - later today Hurricane Earl is supposed to blow in.
We'll see if he's mighty or mini. From the current weather channel updates, it doesn't seem like a big deal.
However - nobody is taking any chances. The waves were HUGE at Scarborough Beach yesterday.
By the time we left, the lifeguards were making announcements that nobody was allowed in the water above their waist, because the waves would knock you over even at that depth.
Some of the campgrounds on Cape Cod closed yesterday too - for safetys sake.
It's probably going to be a windy and rainy day, but we'll have a nice time at home READING, which is a perfect way to spend a rainy day.
TTFN and have a nice Friday!
Thursday, September 02, 2010
Day 1654 - Duke, Duke, Duke, Duke of Hurricane Earl...
Greetings, Bloggy Beachgoers!
I am here in Little Rhody - and little Savannah is still the cutest granddaughter EVER.
We had a fun afternoon playing, dancing, singing, and getting lots of precious HUGS.
Ready for the beach?
Yes, today I will be going to Scarborough Beach with 'The Fam' - and we'll frolic in the waves of Hurricane Earl...
Actually, I don't know if the surf will be up yet due to the Hurricane off the coast, but it might be.
After we swim and bake in the sun for a while - we'll go to 'Moo-Moos' for ice cream, then back to my sisters.
Tonight my nephews will be over and we'll have a big homemade lasagna fest - my sister made two big lasagnas last night, and I know they'll be AWESOME.
TTFN and keep an eye on that hurricane track for me!
Wednesday, September 01, 2010
Day 1653 - Off to the Land of the Clam
Greetings, Bloggy Middlers!
It's Midweek, Midlife, and I'm MIDWAY in my vacation.
It's going by too fast already!
Happy September, everyone! Change your calendars.
We are off to 'Rha-DIsland' for the next several days to see my son, daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, sister and brother-in-law.
I can't wait to see how Savi has changed, and hear her little voice.
Preliminary agenda:
Wednesday - get there.
Thursday - Beach day before Hurricane Earl arrives.
Friday - open.
Saturday - All you can eat lobster at Nordic Lodge. (see www.nordiclodge.com)
Sunday - Fun all day, then fly to Nashville Sunday evening.
Labor Day - Dinner at Papa Boudreauxs with Charlie, TY and SY.
What else could anyone ask for in a vacation? Even get a hurricane thrown in...
