Day 2260 - It's the Eve of May!

Don't ask me why I couldn't get the words next to the text this time.... grrrr... I am NOT EVEN going to mention the automatic posting issue.
Today is the last day of April. This month FLEW by...What? Time to pay bills AGAIN? Sheesh.
We had a nice weekend...
I got my detestible kitchen floor cleaned, I worked out in the pool both Saturday and Sunday, and we visited Keg Springs Winery yesterday.
No complaints about anything except ----- (issues who shall not be named)

Day 2259 - It Only Hurts When I Can't POST!
I am STILL not able to schedule blog posts in advance, meaning, you can't see today's blog until I actually open it up and publish it.
Charlie tells me he'll add it to my morning checklist of 'Did you pack your lunch? Do you have a charged phone? Swimsuit-Swimshoes? Did you take your vitamins?'
This has been broken since April 18th (maybe the 17th).
I'm still sulking.
I have plenty of blog topics to write about, but my motivation is low because I can't schedule when the blog is supposed to publish.
I wish I may, I wish I might, get to auto-publish tonight!

Day 2257 - Time to Learn a New Language...

I have decided I need to learn Klingon.
How hard could it be? I bought a book, and brought it to work with me yesterday.
People at work were intrigued, or made major nerd comments, or told me they HAD NEVER EVEN WATCHED STAR TREK.

Day 2255 - Hunger Games Party Food?
Greetings, Bloggy Trackers and Jackers!
I was thinking...
'If I had a Hunger Games Party, what cool food items could I invent?'
NO, I am not having a Hunger Games party, but if I DID, here's where my mind was headed...
Definitely bite sized Tracker Jackers - maybe made out of candy corn for the striped part, and a gumdrop or black jellybean for the rest of the body.
What could I use for wings, though? Get non-edible wings at the craft store maybe?
Definitely apples with an arrow through them (made out of a wooden skewer).
Definitely teriyaki strips or cubes on skewers on a bed of 'leaves'.
And last, but not least, something ON FIRE!!!
So - whaddya think?

Day 2254 - Singing in the Bathtub...
Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!
Thank heavens, I found an 'UNDO' button.
It took me long enough to left-justify the picture, then I couldn't put the bloody text next to the bloody photo.
WHATEVER.... Must...keep...calm...
Anyway - I want to tell you about a CD I picked up last week at Goodwill for $2.99.
It is (go figure) a John Lithgow CD where he is singing funny childrens songs.
The best song on the CD (in my opinion, of course) is 'Inchworm', and I also have the Danny Kaye original version.
'Singing in the bathtub' is also very good, I used to sing a snippet of that song when I was a kid!
I guess I ought to admit that I bought that CD and a Larry the Cable Guy CD the same day.
Must have been the phase of the moon or something...

Day 2253 - Where Oh Where Has a Normal Day Gone?

I have still been having issues with the new Blogger software and scheduled posting.
Yes, everything I am typing is coming out centered.
I can fix it, but I just don't feel like it.
I hope YOU'RE enjoying this new and improved blogger experience.
Speaking of experiences, I am heading off to work to see what new experiences await me there.
We had an air conditioning issue last week, and they may not have been able to find the part yet.
They have been manually turning off and on the A/C, and my cubicle temperature has been in swing mode from around 64 degrees to about 78. Fun, huh?

Day 2252 - Fill in the Blank!
I still don't know what I'm doing with this new Blogger interface, for all I know the pickle will appear on tomorrow's blog... Ha. Kidding. Really.
If I haven't said it lately - I am addicted to Fried Pickles.
I prefer the pickle chips to the pickle spears.
I have even gotten DRIVE THRU fried pickles at Zaxby's (fast food chicken if you don't have them where you live).
I have tried to make a 'semi-healthy' version, baked in the oven. Marginal at best.
I guess there are worse addictions to have, but stellar levels of fat and sodium must be right up there!

Day 2251 - Oh Joy - Something ELSE to Learn!
Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!
I hope that my recent Blogger auto-posting problems are gone.
And why would they be gone, you ask?
Because now I have had to upgrade to the NEW and IMPROVED, wonderful Blogger, and I suspect my auto-posting issues were due to this upgrade going on.
But now, alas, I have to learn how to USE the new and improved, wonderful, better than sliced bread format.
The first attempt at this blog came out as one, LONG, LONG line. That barely made me crack a smile, I didn't think it was fun or challenging in a good way.
Then I hit 'preview' and couldn't get back to my original window. More joy and bliss.
The schedule brings up a cute little calendar so I don't have to type the date in. What an improvement, I couldn't possibly have kept typing it in myself.
Have a nice day, I'm going to go lie down now...

I still feel bad that I didn't even mention that last friday was Friday the 13th. Oops. I guess you'll have to forgive me, OR NOT.
I'm meeting Charlie this afternoon at the health club, then we're going out for dinner somewhere. I haven't figured out where yet, I'd like to find a place with a buy-one-get-one coupon if I can.
We also heard about a great half price happy hour at a local steak place, that might be just the ticket.

Day 2249 - I'm Drowning... In BOOKS!

I have too many books.
I want to start reading more e-books, but it's SOOO cheap to get used paperbacks. I know why - it's because they are a pain in the $$$ to try to store!
All my bookcases are full, AND dusty.
Because all my bookcases are full and dusty, I know that I am not re-reading the books - so why have them (unless they are collectible, of course!).
I have a bad habit of holding on to all types of STUFF because I think 'Oh, I'll sell it on eBay', or 'I'll take them to a used book store and trade them for more books', etc.
Needless to say - I never do either one.
Want some books???

Day 2248 - Midweek and Midlife

Here's another wonderful picture from last weekend. Here is Savannah with her bucket of 'flowers' made out of sea grass.
Seeing her with bare feet in April reminds me of how COLD sand can be under your feet, especially if you dig your toes down in it a little ways.
I used to like to walk barefooted in the garden in the spring after it was plowed and harrowed.
That dirt felt SOOO soft and wonderful on my feet! Alas, it would turn my feet black too, but no matter...

Day 2247 - The Man From Uncle...

No, this blog isn't really about the old TV show, The Man from Uncle, even though I used to watch that show, and enjoyed it...
Here's a cute picture of my son, Evan with my granddaughter this past weekend. Too cute for words!
Savannah has always referred to Evan as 'Uncle', rather than 'Uncle Evan'.
I have so many uncles on my mother's side, that wouldn't have worked for me. 'Uncle' always preceded their name, so you could tell WHICH Uncle we were talking about.
That applied to 'Aunties' too, of course!

Day 2246 - Where Have All the Sneakers Gone?
Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!There is something strange AFOOT... (get it?)
I keep seeing these random acts of sneakerage around town.
For the past several days, I have passed a sneaker sitting on the double yellow line of the road in TWO PLACES - one in Spring Hill, TN and one in Franklin.
That might not be such a big deal, but during our cubicle move at work, I kept noticing an empty cubicle with nothing in it but a single old sneaker under the desk!
And I thought it was SOCKS that always travelled in Singles...
Or are they really alien devices disguised as sneakers that are sitting there, capturing data on us humans??? That must be IT!!!

Day 2245 - Uh... I haven't had time to blog!

No time for a 'good' (matter of opinion, eh?) blog today.
We had a fun time last night at a cookout at Buddy Joes - thanks, Joe! That means we got home late and I didn't have time to write it for early morning.
We left the house at 7:15am this morning to get in a workout, so there wasn't time THIS morning.
Guess that's just about it...
TTFN and I already know the topic for tomorrow's blog, but I ain't gonna TELL.
No time for a 'good' (matter of opinion, eh?) blog today.

The IRS sent me a notice one year (many years ago) that I owed them money.
I knew they were wrong, but I sent them a check anyway.
A month or two went by, and I got another notice with a check for the amount I 'overpaid'. Well, I only overpaid because I sent them that check.
Ah well - long story short, good luck filing those taxes!

Day 2242 - My Smart Phone is smarter than me...
Greetings, Bloggy Smart Phoners!
First, I need to say that I had a picture to go with the blog, but Blogger isn't cooperating and the 'Add image' isn't working... Sheesh.
I hope this isn't indicative of how the REST of the day is going to go.
But back to the subject of the blog.
I am a DUNCE. There, I said it.
For the last couple of weeks, I've been getting this red exclamation point icon that appears in the corner of my phone.
I haven't been able to figure out what it meant, and I was worried that it meant that the internet service or phone service wasn't working correctly.
I found out yesterday what causes it. It's just a WEATHER ALERT. We have a freeze warning out for tonight, and my Weatherbug app is putting it there.
Recently we've had severe storms, etc. and that is why I got the other ones.
I think I can stop rebooting my phone every time I see that icon...
Good grief.

I'll just ask one quick thing, then BAIL out on ya...
Have you ever tried a Melorange - in the cantaloupe family?
It's my new favorite fruit. A Melorange is a small cantaloupe, but super sweet like home grown garden cantaloupe (if you've ever had one, you'd remember).
One of them is just the right amount for a bowl for me, and one for Charlie.

Day 2240 - 'Shoe' Fly, Don't Bother Me!

As you know, I'm sitting in a new area at work as of this morning.
I overheard some laughter at a nearby cube.
I walked over, and my coworker was displaying that she had put on TWO DIFFERENT BLACK HIGH-HEELED SANDALS by mistake.
She said that the worst part was that one shoe was slightly higher than the other, which made it feel wrong to walk in them.
I am glad that has never happened to me - YET!

Day 2238 - Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter!
Before I forget to tell this, I am proud to say that the Easter Bunny bagged my groceries yesterday at the supermarket!
She said she was waiting for her friend to come by with her little girl. I thought that was very special.
Going back in time now to the ghosts of Easter past...
When I was little, dressing up for Easter was a really big deal.
We would have new spring dresses, shiny patent leather shoes, and white Easter bonnet straw hats.
When it was a cold spring, we froze to death in our cute spring dresses.
Sometimes we had SNOW, and we'd have to wear rubber boots over our shiny new shoes.
We didn't have a big family tradition of Easter Egg hunts, either, though we always decorated eggs.
I hope you have a wonderful day! We're having our friends TY and SY over for Easter dinner, and we're looking forward to catching up.

Are you going on any Easter Egg Hunts this weekend?
Alas, none for me. I'm not crazy about Easter candy anyway.
I do miss the Easter commercial from the 80's that had two little kids dressed up in Easter costumes at the very end.
One child says 'Thanks, Easter Bunny!', and the other says 'Bawk! Bawk!' and flaps his arms.
It is very cute, and my kids really liked it.

Day 2234 - Why Isn't This Easy?
Greetings, Bloggy DVD Renters!One aggravating thing we've noticed about DVDs...
When you get to the movie menu, where you choose whether to Play, Select a Scene, or Extra Features - KNOWING WHAT OPTION YOU ARE SELECTING IS SOMETIMES JUST A GUESSING GAME.
Every movie has a different way of noting the option you are on. Sometimes it's just a box, sometimes highlighted, sometimes a color change, sometimes the writing changes, sometimes it seems like NOTHING changes...
There are also NEW options like choosing widescreen or fullscreen that add to the fun.
Does anyone else out there get annoyed by this? Why isn't it OBVIOUS and EASY to see what OPTION YOU ARE ON?

Day 2233 - I Chickened Out!
Greetings, Bloggy Cluckers!I chickened out yesterday and did not go in the outdoor pool, though I heard someone say the water temp is now in mid-70's.
My water aerobics instructor braved the water temp and went in the outdoor pool before class, but we had class in the indoor pool which is heated to 84 degrees.
It was VERY hot yesterday, 88 degrees in the afternoon. That is summer weather for sure. So - if summer occurs in spring, what is summer going to be like? Probably blistering.

Day 2232 - Everybody in the pool!
Greetings, Bloggy Splishers and Splashers!
It's HOT, HOT, HOT. It was 85 yesterday, and expected to be 85 tomorrow, and 85 the next day too.
For the first time EVER - the OUTDOOR POOL at the health club is already open for business, with water temps in the 70's. It is incredible!
I may conquer my 'it's too early' phobia and get in the outdoor pool this afternoon. I also have to be careful not to get a sunburn, as I haven't had any sun exposure to speak of yet this year.
I saw some Iris plants that had already blooomed and gone BY - and today is the Second of April! Goodness gracious!
I like warm weather as much as anyone - but this spring is unbelievable.

Day 2231 - Mama's Got a Brand New Bag-ged!
Greetings, Bloggy Bagless Vacuumers!
First - Happy April! Time to pay bills again.
I did NOT like my bagless Bissell vacuum cleaner. As a matter of fact, I hated it with a passion.
It seemed to blow the dust around rather than capturing it. It was extremely heavy. I could go on, but you don't need to hear it, I'm sure.
Today I went to Sears and got a Hoover Platinum vacuum cleaner WITH bags - very fancy bags that capture all the dust and crud and filter the air.
It even comes with a child - a baby canister vac that has all the tools and another wand. THAT has the fancy HEPA filter bags too.
The upright only weighs 11 pounds. The weight and the BAG are the two features that sold me on it. I'll let you know what I think of it soon after I've had a chance to see how it performs against all the DUST in the house.
