Day 2352 - So Long, Hot July!
Greetings, Bloggy Calendar Turners!
This is IT - the last day of July.
That means it's time to pay bills AGAIN, and we have an extra one this month because some insurance is due...
Joy of Joys!
The good news? This bloody hot July is OVER, and I can just hope that August won't be as hot.
Speaking of August, some of the schools with that 'year round' calendar go back in session TOMORROW - can you believe it??
Bye, Bye July!

Day 2351 - Monday, Monday...
Greetings, Happy and Smiling Monday Lovers!
Okay, that usually does NOT include ME.
Why, you might ask?
I am grouchy that the weekend's over.
I am grouchy that I had to get up earlier.
I am grouchy that it's back to work day.
I am grouchy that I didn't do everything I wanted to do on the weekend.
And a hundred more reasons!
Have a nice day.

Day 2350 - Surf's UP! Somewhere, Anyway...
Greetings, Bloggy Surfer Dudes and Dudettes!
This photo is a little over BOARD, but I was passing the high school last week and I actually saw a teenager walking down the sidewalk with a surfboard and blue and white flowered swim trunks on!!
How cool is THAT? I can't begin to explain why he was doing that, or where he was going.
The funniest part of this event?
For a second, I didn't even think it was odd!
For a second, I didn't remember that I am EIGHT HOURS away from anywhere surfable!
That's what happens when you grow up around the ocean, I guess...

Day 2348 - It's Friday, Hooray!
Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers!
You know what to do, march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'
Charlie and I might go out for a steak dinner tonight, after we work out of course...
My friend at work gave me a coupon for TWENTY DOLLARS OFF two dinners at Stoney River Steak house.
We've never been there because it's pretty pricey, but I'd say that $20 is a pretty good incentive to go.
Daydreaming about steak, I can't decide yet whether I want filet mignon or prime rib. I am leaning toward prime rib as I write the blog, but I am apt to change my mind.

Day 2347 - FRY me to the moon....
Greetings, Bloggy Fryolaters!
I love fried chicken, as long as it isn't LEGS.
Chicken legs have strange, stretchy veins in them sometimes, so I usually avoid them like the plague. Thankfully Charlie likes them.
I recently got some fried chicken, and paid extra to 'upgrade' the thigh and leg for chicken breasts.
I got home, and lo and behold, I got shortchanged a breast. There, looking up at me guiltily in the container, was a CHICKEN LEG... DRAT!
Charlie couldn't believe it, but I CALLED them, gave them my name, and told them I would be in the next day to get the piece of chicken I PAID FOR. They were happy to make it right.
Would YOU have bothered to go back the next day to get what you paid for??

Day 2346 - Anybody know what to make with Roasted Eggplant Puree?
Greetings, Bloggy Middlers!
I experiment with new foods occasionally.
I'll pick something up at the Indian market or Big Lots or the grocery store that I've never tried before. USUALLY something healthy.
I have in my possession a jar of Roasted Eggplant Puree.
Now that I have it - What do I DO with it?
I have seen some recipes to use it as a pasta filling, mixed with Ricotta, or to add it to hummus as a dip, and I am also wondering if I could mix it into salsa as a dip or topping.
What do you think? Any other ideas?

Day 2345 - Casual reading means under 500 pages a day...
Greetings, Bloggy Griffin-doors!
I am reading a pretty good fantasy series right now - the Fallen Moon series by K.J. Taylor.
I read the first book yesterday, it was nearly 400 pages and I thought it was quite good.
The protagonist (main character) Arren, has a really difficult time of it, and I really wanted to see what was going to happen to him, so I stayed up a little later than usual last night to finish it.
The second book is longer, and I've just started reading it.
I ordered the third book Sunday, which is really funny considering I am already WAITING for book #3 of Septimus Heap to arrive as well.
Anyway - that's what I'm up to... What are YOU reading??

Day 2344 - Lego my Lego-las!
Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!
Christmas shopping tip for me- Lord of the Rings Lego Sets. This one is $129!
I am just kidding, there are LOTS of other things I would like to have before getting Legos...
It's back to work I go, in the Mines of Moria... Just kidding, but sometimes it feels like it.
I often am the first person to enter my department and it is pitch black.
There are motion sensors that activate the lighting after I enter and move around a bit.
That means if I am sitting still at my desk for a prolonged period, the lights will go off unless other people have arrived.
Have a nice, well-lit Monday!

Yes, the weekend is as short as this blog.
There. That's it.
Bye.

Day 2342 - The Weekend is HERE!
Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders,
I am going to enjoy my weekend, and not think too much about what to write on
da blog. Hey - here's one thing I haven't mentioned...
If you are a fan of the Harry Potter books, have you checked out 'Septimus Heap'? Septimus is the 7th son of a 7th son, which means he has powerful and natural magical ability...
I've only read the first 2 books, and ordered four more. Of course, the ones that have ARRIVED are NOT book THREE that I need next. That figures, doesn't it?
TTFN and have a great weekend!

Greetings, Bloggy TGIFers-
It's Friday, Hooray!
You know what to do - march in a circle chanting 'Fri-day! Fri-day! Fri-day!'
Where did the week GO?
I dunno, but as I am ALWAYS ready for the weekend, that's OK.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Day 2340 - Oh, Sweet Relief!
Greetings, Bloggy Payment Haters,
It is such a wonderful feeling to PAY SOMETHING OFF. Oh, Sweet Relief!
I have no car payment at the moment, but Charlie does. HE HATES THOSE PAYMENTS. He loves his vehicle, but he hates those payments. I don't blame him.
Sometimes I pay cash instead of using my credit card or debit card, just because it FEELS BETTER to know that it's OVER after I've paid for it.
There's no bill coming later, no debit card transaction to check online, no room for error. DONE, DONE, DONE.
Give it a try - Save up for something, and then PAY FOR IT and have NO BILL to haunt you.

Day 2339 - Day Off? What do YOU do?
Greetings, Bloggy Middlers!
I have a question...
My friend had a day off last week. She said she stayed in her PJs all day, and just enjoyed doing nothing for a change.
I really can understand, but the only time I keep on the PJs is when I am working from home, and just till noon, and that's just because I CAN.
So- when you get a day off, what do YOU do?
Do you run errands, shop in the middle of the week instead of the weekend, go out to eat, what?
A lot of people schedule doctors and dentists appointments then, so they don't have to squeeze it into a workday.

Day 2338 - Twofer Tuesday!
Greetings, Bloggy Twofers!
Hey, we tried a new place for dinner last Friday night that was recommended by a coworker. It is between Franklin and Brentwood in the Grassland area.
The name is 'Barbara's Home Cooking', and I will go on record and say that their homemade yeast dinner rolls are flat out AMAZING.
I had fried chicken, turnip greens, and something called 'pineapple casserole' that had chunk pineapple, cheese, and a ritz cracker crumb topping.
Charlie had catfish, field peas (they look like large black eyed peas), and creamed corn.
Charlie had room for peach cobbler and ice cream for dessert. I didn't have room because I ate TWO ENORMOUS rolls with butter on them. (real butter, not spread).
*sigh* Now I need to go back again on another friday and have gumbo and rolls.

Day 2337 - Mondays are the Pits!
Greetings, Bloggy Go-Go-Gadgeters!
Aldi's had cherries this week for an unheard-of $1.49/lb. That is such an awesome price.
I love cherries, but I don't love the pits.
Thankfully, I have a cherry pitter - NOT as fancy as the one in the picture.
You align the 'punch' in the spot where the stem used to be, and presto-chango, the pit gets pushed right through the cherry and falls into the bowl waiting below.
If your cherries sit in the fridge without getting eaten, maybe pitting them would get things going!
TTFN and sometimes it's MONDAYS ARE THE PITS.

Day 2336 - Friday the 13th Revisited...
Greetings, Bloggy Scare-Bears,
I thought you'd enjoy hearing about my Friday the 13th...
I started my morning making a pot of coffee at work.
I poured a cup, and it was full of coffee grounds! The filter had caved in inside the filter basket, and the coffee was no good.
I dumped the whole thing out, washed out the filter basket and the pot, and started again. Grrr...
Very soon after finally enjoying my cup of 'good' coffee, nature was calling. I went to the ladies room, and got the LAST SHREDS of toilet tissue in that stall (my very favorite one that I use most of the time). Grrr...
I walked back to my cube, made a sign that said 'NO TOILET PAPER'!! and hung it on the stall door. MAYBE there will be more on Monday.
The last time the paper was out, the housekeeping attendant was IN THERE. I started requesting (loudly) that I WAS OUT OF paper. She handed in a roll of PAPER TOWELS... Good grief!
That was just the beginning, NOT the end of my various Friday-13-isms.
I hope YOU had a wonderful 13th!

Day 2335 - Wedding Bells are Ringing!
Greetings, Bloggy His and Hers-
We're off to a wedding this afternoon, and I hope I remember the card!
I have had my outfit (dress) picked out since last weekend. I washed it and hung it on a hanger so it wouldn't be itchy.
Yes, I even laid out a brandy new pair of pantyhose to wear with it. I RARELY wear hose, so I am glad I found it.
What a splurge, right?
More good news? PRIME RIB at the reception! Charlie, can we leave yet?

Day 2333 - Warehouse 13, Anyone?
Greetings, Bloggy Sci-Fi-ers...
Are you a fan of the Syfy series Warehouse 13?
By the way - side question - why did they change the name to 'SyFy' anyway?
We had never heard of it, but a lady at water aerobics watches it and recommended it.
It has been described as a combination of X-files, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Moonlighting.
That sounds good to me! We were big X-files fans, back in the day.
We're going to go as far back as we can 'On Demand', and start watching Warehouse 13. We've only watched one episode so far and it was appropriately about a BEE!
TTFN and have a very NORMAL day...

Day 2332 - Midweek and Midlife
Greetings, Bloggy Middlers-
How did it get to be the middle of the week already?
It's a crisis, I say!
How do you know you're having a midlife crisis?
When you start taking regular medication for various ailments...
When you start worrying about retirement planning on a regular basis...
When you start noticing funny age spots on your skin, and little crooks in your fingers, and various body parts don't hold themselves up anymore...
Last but not least - when you spend an awful lot of time trying to SEE, trying to HEAR, and trying to REMEMBER THINGS!
TTFN - whoever the heck you are...

Day 2331 - A Great Escape...Show!
Greetings, Bloggy Escape Artists,
Do you know about the new TV Show - the Great Escape?
Similar to the Amazing Race, it involves teams of people trying to beat other teams to win a big prize.
However, the twist is - each week they have to ESCAPE from a secret place they haven't ever seen before.
They also have to be secretive, avoiding guards and other people trying to prevent their escape.
The premiere was Sunday night - set your DVRs and give it a try!

Day 2330 - Drip, Drip, Drip
Greetings, Monday Morning Blahgers-
It's back to worky, worky for me, and I have big news...
We got a little rain yesterday!
A little cloud parked itself right over our house yesterday afternoon, and rained on us for a little while.
It was wonderful.
I had just returned from the grocery store, so I didn't even get wet.
Thanks for the shower, Mother Nature!

Day 2329 - Calling All Arachnids!
Greetings, Bloggy Spidee's-
I mean, Greetings, joint-legged invertebrate animals...
We have already seen the new 'Spiderman' movie, and it is good! Action packed, not too much romantic fluff.
Sally Field looked pretty miserable in parts - well, just for the ENTIRE movie...
I'd recommend seeing the 2D first, we thought the 3D camerawork was a bit difficult to follow with those Gi-normous, Clark Kent 3D glasses on...
The good news about the 3D movie we attended? (besides the popcorn)
They didn't have any PREVIEWS, because they only had 2D previews and just ONE 3D projector in that theatre! Yay! We were happy to miss half an hour of previews and commercials...
Go see it. Go. Now....

Day 2328 - Swimming and Craftin'!
Greetings, Bloggy Weekenders!
Not much time for bloggage today either.
We are going to go do an early pool workout so we can hit a craft fair (some of which is outdoors) before it gets too hot!
The craft fair starts at 8am (whoa!) - we won't make it by 8, but MAYBE we'll make it by 9 or 10!
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Day 2326 - A Drought Makes You Appreciate the Rain!
Greetings, Bloggy Rainmakers!
We FINALLY got a little rain earlier this week.
NOT having rain for SO long really makes me appreciate it when it does rain, and know how important it is!
It is SO wonderful to hear rain on the roof, and to see the raindrops falling from the sky.
(of course, rain sounds even more wonderful on a BARN roof, but I don't get to hear that very often)
There, I'll jump down from my soapbox now.

Day 2325 - Happy 4th of July!
Greetings, Bloggy Celebrants,
It's the 4th of July - take the day off!
We are going to spend the day today with Charlie's daughter, son-in-law, and grandson.
Charlie's grandson is three, and he loves the Buzz Lightyear character, and the movie 'Cars'.
I bought a Buzz Lightyear Pez dispenser, TWO Buzz Lightyear action figures, and a couple of games with the 'Cars' theme.
He's gonna love 'em!
Depending on the weather, we may go swimming, and/or we may go fishing, but we are definitely going to have some yummy burgers and corn on the cob!
Fireworks tonight....
I hope everyone has a great holiday and has lots of fun!! xoxoxo

Day 2324 - My KEY is STICKING!
Greetings, Bloggy Keyboarders,
The number 4 key on the keyboard is sticking. Oh crap!
When I press it, sometimes nothing happens.
So... what do I do about that?
Hit it a bunch of times?
Take it in for cleaning?
Take it in for service?
I type so much at work, I wore the letters off some of the keys.
My manager saw it and said 'Good grief! I'm getting you a new keyboard'... and he did!

Day 2323 - Is that really '55'?
Greetings, Monday Morning Blah-gers!
It's Monday, yes, but the Monday of a Holiday week is a better Monday than usual... maybe...
Here's an awesome granddaughter photo, that is a great expression and the umbrella makes it look all rosy!
We went to see 'Magic Mike' yesterday, and it was okay. I thought the lead actor was good, and the dancing was good too!
Charlie was one of maybe THREE men in the whole theater.
As we were walking in, I said 'Go ahead, token male'... and the posse of women in front of us giggled loudly.

Day 2322 - Mother Mayhem!!
Greetings, Bloggy Nature Lovers-
Happy 1st of July!
Time to pay bills AGAIN...
Mother Nature GIVES, and Mother Nature TAKES BACK.
(isn't this picture the coolest?)
I think Mother Nature must have some hot flashes going on, given our 109 degree temps the last couple of days.
Please, Mother Nature, don't become MOTHER MAYHEM! It's too bloody hot!
There. That's my rain dance. Bye.
