Day 623 - Back from the Mountains!

Greetings, Bloggy Commuters! It's Monday already!

The weekend went by too fast, even if it was a long weekend away.

Seven gals on a 'gals weekend' in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN.

We cooked in, grilled out, and shopped till we dropped! We also went to a winery and did some wine tasting. We had a great time and PERFECT, blue sky weather. Very nice!

This photo is of the view from the deck - can't hate that!

The cabin we stayed in was awesome. Three stories, 4 bedrooms plus a loft, 2 jacuzzis, one outdoor hot tub, and a 12 seat indoor theatre. It really was the best cabin yet.

Chaaaaarlllliiieeee, I wanna go baaaaack and stay in that cabin agaaaaain....

A typical day consisted of a leisurely (2-3 hour) morning coffee and breakfast period, then taking showers and getting ready for the day, then getting snacks and drinks into the car, then shopping till late afternoon with lunch out somewhere.

We ate rotisserie chickens the first night, made homemade chili the next night, and grilled steaks on our last night.

Everything was great, and we only set off the smoke alarm once (she said proudly)...

While we were gone, Charlie bagged a deer (a doe) the first weekend of muzzleloader season, so he's happy as a clam.

TTFN and have a nice Monday!

Comments:
Post one of your "Planning for Gatlinburg" lists that the group makes two months ahead of time. That would be great :)

What a nice trip! It's so beautiful there! I'm very sad about the deer, though. ;)
Happy Monday!

Karen, Charlie should call Ray about getting a Maine license for Thanksgiving week so he can get a deer for the Maine group to eat this winter. I'll never forget a tour Ray took Eric and I on years ago(Eric couldn't have been more than 8); first, we saw a deer hanging from a tree; then we went to my cousin's "abattoir" where we saw about six deer lying down with legs up. Eric was open-mouthed the whole time. Probably scarred him for life. Of course, having grown up in Maine I had seen it all before.

So happy you had such a wonderful trip, Karen, and a good time with your friends! I know I congratulated Charlie on his deer, and I do mean it, and at the same time I hate to think of those darling creatures getting shot. Oh my! We didn't think anything negative about "bagging a deer" when we were growing up. I still enjoy eating deer meat!
