Day 491 - The Case of Mistaken Identity

Greetings, Bloggy Readers!

YOU know who you are... don't you?

I've probably mentioned that my mother will see someone in the small town where she grew up, usually at the grocery store or in a shop.

She'll stare for awhile, then cautiously approach the person and say... 'Who is your mother?'

She sees the family resemblance and is usually correct that she knows the family - somehow...

At Cracker Barrel last night, we had a similar situation.

An older gentleman, his daughter and her husband were leaving, and they walked by our table.

The older gentleman stopped to speak to our friend, TY.

'Are you a Henderson?' he said.

'No', said our friend. 'I'm a Y------. But who are you?'

'I'm a Brewer', the older man replied.

'Oh yes', said our friend. 'You knew my daddy - Buddy Y------'.

The older man's response 'Well, yeah I did know your daddy, but you still look like a Henderson.'

His daughter introduced herself by telling who she USED to be married to (and our friends did know her too). She didn't bother to mention her current husband, standing beside her!

It was pretty funny at the time, especially the older man insisting on the mistaken family resemblance even after he knew better. ;-)

TTFN! Have a nice Tuesday!

Comments:
I love those small town conversations. Funny about the woman not metioning her current spouse!
